No More Coke Products at Costco?

no more diet coke... and no more smart water at Costco, either. bummer.

We drink Coke. We wouldn't switch to Pepsi unless it was a matter of life and death - maybe not even then. We don't drink so much soda that it will break us to pay a few dollars a month to buy at the grocery or carry out. If money was an issue, I'd skip a few cokes and drink water so I could still afford coke.

Not to make you jealous but I can score them 2 for $5 sometimes at Hess stations!

Not sure if we are talking about the same quantities. A case (24 cans) for $4 is a steal! 2 twelve packs for $5 is good but not unusual.

I usually buy my Diet Coke at Costco because they have the best price, unless there is a loss leader at the grocery stores. Lately there have been no big sales at the grocery stores and last week there was a sign in Costco that said, because they were not able to be competitive, they have stopped carrying Coca Cola products. I bought Pepsi instead. Costco is a HUGE retailer. What is Coke thinking if they aren't going to lower their prices for Costco? Is this a bad move? I can drink diet Pepsi. It isn't my favorite but it works.

I have a friend who is a manager at Costco. He is sure it will be back eventually. Basically the president of Costco and Coke are in a pissing match right now, neither wants to give in. Someone will give in eventually, and it will probably be Coke.

My dh works for Proctor and Gamble and he says Costco is a pain because they demand certain things and certain prices. But given that they are 20% of the market for P&G's paper products, P&G does what Costco wants.

My household is divided. I drink Diet Pepsi while DH drinks Diet Coke. Among my extended family we are split 50/50 between Pepsi and Coke.

For the record, we are near Boston.

I'm born and bred in the Chicago suburbs and everyone that I know prefers Coke. I'm so bad that if a restaurant serves Pepsi products, I order water with lemon and add some sugar to make my own lemon-shake up!

Edited to add... Meijer has 12 packs of Coke on sale right now for $2.48

Just looked at our Meijers ad and this week their sales are:

24 pack Pepsi $6.48

Pepsi or Coke 2 liters are $1.00 each

12 packs of Dr Pepper, 7Up, and A&W are $2.88 a pack and 2 liters are 96 cents each.

Over at Krogers/Scotts, their sales are:

4 of the 6 pack/24oz's Pepsi are $11.00.

4 pack 12oz Pepsi is $1.00 per pack

24 pack of Coke $6.99

7Up 12 packs 3 for $11.00
