No more All Hands on Deck :(

This has probably already been mentioned, but new to me is the stoppage of soft pretzels on the pool deck. What will go next......

Oh boy that would be bad...last cruise in July we ordered 2 almost every night...wonder why

I saw that on the other thread (Things you no longer see on DCL) but it was from the beginning of December. The person posted they were no longer on the pool deck but could be purchased at O'Gills Pub :( I'm surprised that no one else has mentioned that.

I hope that isn't the case. We loved grabbing those pretzels in the afternoons. But I doubt I would pay for them.

Can anything get better? haha

yes....they could have REAL mustard (spicy brown..think Guldens) or something more NY DEli style (think Koskciusko)...

don't get mad, you asked, I answered. Even in Philly they don't use poupon (poop-on) on pretzels
:P:thumbsup2

Just got soft pretzels AND All Hands on Deck aboard the Wonder last week. grabbed pretzels and took them to the theater to eat while watching Ant Man. they have packs of Dijon mustard too.
On the Fantasy the ONLY food allowed into the theaters was from Preludes and they made that quite clear at EVERY show. It was really quite annoying to us and definitely a new policy for us to experience as well.

But, the All Hands on Deck was restored to the menu, apparently it was a "printing error". What I think really happened is guests complained very loudly and immediately about it and they brought it back as a result.

And honestly I forgot all about the pretzels they normally serve, but now that you mention it, they were indeed missing.

We saw the soft pretzels in Cabanas on the Magic on Tangled day on our latest B2B cruise.

Wow, that is interesting about the theater restrictions on food now.

Hum, so it looks like the pretzels are only missing on the Fantasy then. Maybe they are doing a trial run on that ship to see if people complain :confused3

Are we certain the pretzels are completely missing from the Fantasy? On our cruise in June they were only available one afternoon, I believe it was the last sea day, and that seems consistent with what I heard from people on other Fantasy cruises.

That's what I've heard about the pretzels on all the ships - that they were available the last sea day. And there were a limited number, once they were gone, they were gone.

The only thing that I said to my wife when I saw the increase is that they must not be booking full as quickly as they did in the past. I would say that the first 5 or 6 years we sailed DCL we never saw a commercial on TV and it was usually hard to get a room late. The exception might have been the initial Alaska cruises that didn't sell well the first year. So the business part of me wonders if lower prices with minimal advertising budget would be better in the long run than higher prices with a big advertising budget and then lots of gty deals after the paid in full date. DCL has a lot of smart people working for them, so they either have it figured or took a calculated risk to see what would happen. That is why I still think the late 2017 and early 2018 prices will be telling when they come out. Also anymore changes they make to the so called perks. CC has an interesting thread about the dining room changes with the servers.

Back to the topic, I am glad they relented and added it back to the room service menu, just too late for our cruise.

I booked our Alaskan within a couple days of opening day for fear of the dreaded "price increase" and "Alaska usually sells out and fast". Just paid in full (a few days before deadline) but kept watching every couple weeks for the price increase on our room category out of curiousity. It was about 7 months after opening day before it ever went up. It went up only about $300 and that was the only increase (so far). Could be a fluke, just this cruise......but when all I've heard in past is how much it skyrockets after opening day and how fast it sells out and it barely moved this time, makes me believe they are not filling up as fast or completely. There were even some GT rooms in oceanview a few weeks ago on this cruise.

.
We were on the fantasy last week and they didn't seem to enforce this. We watched three different movies and each time, people were bringing in food from Flo's to eat while watching the movie.

We had them every day on the Wonder last October. It was our afternoon routine to grab a pretzel and cappuccino and hang out in the Cove Café for a bit  But I think they did run out the last night of the first cruise (we were B2B) because we were looking for a late night snack and they said they didn't have any more. But they were back again the next day when our second cruise left.

Oh no!!! Last year on the WBPC on the WONDER they were available by the pool everyday all afternoon long. Not that I got one everyday (only most days :o). And I was looking forward to the same this year. I guess I'll see what happens, I guess I don't NEED them but that was a nice lunch option.

on the Wonder last week pretzels were available at least three days. There was only one sea day on that itinerary though (7 night cruise). and Dijon mustard was better than the plain yellow. plus there were NO restrictions on bringing food into the movie theater. didn't try with the Walt Disney theater but I only went in there to see Star Wars.

Is that on all the ships now or just the fantasy?

I just got off of the Fantasy, I asked for the soft pretzels on day 1 & was told they were in O'Gills.- which we only got into when we had our Chewbaca meet & greet, so the bar was empty. I did check daily & they never showed up. I was disappointed as I was not aware that they had been removed. Seems like a weird thing to remove as soft pretzels are not expensive in general, maybe the Mickey ones are?

We did order the All a Hands on Deck a couple times, it was the exact same plate as our 10/2014 cruise.
