Hello everyones, I just read this :

22 October 2006: Changes to the special edition Wishes perimeter fireworks

On special event nights, the Magic Kingdom has previously used nine additional firing locations to create a 360 degree perimeter firework effect, surrounding the entire park with fireworks. Whilst creating a spectacular effect, the downside has been that transportation around the park has had to be halted before, during, and after the show for safety purposes, and to allow the pyro to be position around the railroad track. To allow some transportation to continue, and to minimise the disruption, the Magic Kingdom will now be firing a 180 degree perimeter effect on special nights, instead of the 360 degree effect. However, it's important to note that the amount of pyro will not be reduced, the nine firing locations will now be compacted into a 180 degree arc, instead of the 360 degree. This means the same amount of pyro as before, but in a smaller space, so it should prove to be a spectacular site.

As always, things are subject to changes, but this is the current plan:

The changes are set to affect the rest of the Halloween party "HalloWishes" shows, the Christmas party "Holiday Wishes" shows, and the Princess & Pirates party shows.

The 360 degree perimeter effects will return for the two nights for New Years Eve show and the two nights for 4th of July.

Thats just sad because I never had the chance to see them, only on videos. But I think more fireworks in a smaller sky area will be awesome too.

What do you think????

PS: info from wdwmagic . com

We have seen the 360 effect a few times and while it is nice, since I can't see all around me at once I probably won't notice the difference with the change. It will be nice to be able to ride the train around though since it is always hard to wait during the fireworks.

I doubt that the train will operate DURING ANY fireworks.

The area where the larger Pyro shells of Wishes and other shows is fired is near the RR tracks at the rear edge of MK.
They have stopped operating the WDW RR train before all fireworks shows at MK for years, not just on nights with the 360 degree effects.

I don't really understand the "stop transportation during 360 degree fireworks" part of the quote.

Maybe it means that the RR must be shut down VERY EARLY in the day to set the Pyro effects around the tracks.

But I am waiting for further conformation of this "news" before I put too much stock in it.

Well, I guess this is good and bad at the same time. I love the 360 degree perimeter fireworks, and will hate to see them go, but I'll reserve judgement on the new 180 degree fireworks until we see them on Friday. I guess this will also affect the Wishes cruises??? On perimeter fireworks nights, the boats used to have to watch from Bay Lake. I would think that they can stay in Seven Seas Lagoon now that there won't be shells going off near them. The view will be that much better from the Wishes cruise on those nights.

Kind of a bummer but like the previous poster said I can't see all around me all the time anyway.

I think we tried to get it on video but who wants to twirl around that fast??

You really have to be in the right place to have it be 360º ....

All of the places we always choose to view fireworks, due to the low crowds there, have never been 360º - and we like *those* spots better when it was 'regular'.

Plus - you cant travel in many of the park spots. The walk ways we'd use to cut through, would be cut off.

I dont think it's a big loss - but Ive seen them, so maybe thats why. :confused3

Honestly, since they are not reducing the actual amount of shells (if true) this is much better.

I've been to the perimeter shows and you know what? You can't see them all at the same time. You turn around one way and miss the others.

However, if they do them at 180 degrees, you can see them all. Also the perimeter shells have always been pretty short in length so pushing them all into a 180 degree show will make the perimter effect much more powerful.

I'm happy to hear about this.

Maybe they are talking about the monorail? The resort monorail stops during the fireworks.

Yes, and the ferry.

I've seen the 360 effect from both inside the MK at MNSSHP last year, and from the balcony at BCV -- very cool to see it from BCV. that whole effect is spectacular, so my first thought was "that's too bad". But I'll reserve any further opinion until after we go to MVMCP in December. Hopefully they are still using the same amount of fireworks. :)

We saw the 180 the other night and it was beautiful. I've never had a chance to see the 360 and am sorry to have missed it but it still looked great.
