I am making homemade mojitos and I don't have a muddler... what can I use?

Right now I'm using the blunt end of an ice cream scooper-- and I'm not sure what else I can try!

Do you have any wooden spoons? The end should work just fine. You could also use the end of a heavy butter knife.

I tried the end of a wooden spoon yesterday. I do have heavy butter knives as well.

I don't think I'm muddling enough...I'm sipping and getting mint leaves as I drink-- it tastes like I'm eating grass clippings!

so grass clippings = mojito? I guess I can "live" with it then. I thought the mint needed to be a bit more "pureed" so to speak

i never muddle til its pureed-you just want to release the mint oil-but i never have the grass clipping issue either-i dont break it down that much-and most of it is weighted to the bottom of the glass by the ice. I make lots of mojitos and never considered that to be an issue.

Here is my mojito trick:
Place the mint leaves in the bottom of the glass, lightly tap the leaves with the round spoon part of a wooden spoon - do not mush or make into a mint mash.
Squeeze the lime and drop the wedge in the glass.
Fill the glass with ice. Cubes IMO work best, the ice will hold the mint on the bottom of the glass.
Mix the rum, club soda and flavoring separately
Pour over the ice (Gently, do not stir) add a straw if you prefer
Voila, mojito without having to use your teeth as a strainer
