No milk for tea?

Is an assumption made in the parks that no one has tea with milk? I went to one of the restaurants, ordered food, cola and tea. At no time was I offered or given milk. I tried to go to a machine that does hot drinks, was asked what I wanted so said I was looking for the milk. I was directed to the counter where all the queues were. A pointless exercise and after a while gave it up as a bad idea, stomped back to my table - not very graciously - and grumbled about having to drink tea that was now only warm and having to put a lot of sugar in.

Is this an economy move, an oversight or an assumption that we all drink tea without milk? Do I need to find a supply of those little milk portions and keep them in my pocket???

I don't drink tea but seem to recall that milk, sugar etc are normally along side most of the condiments :)

Hmm... At Casey Jones have had to ask for milk and they put some in a small cup. No sign of milk portions anywhere. At Marionette's there were none by the condiments and it was here I was directed back to the queues. Didn't spot any at the big barn in Frontierland so went for the safer option, hot chocolate.

I have always been taught to ask for milk with tea when in France, as many French people drink it black or with lemon. So I always ask for a tea with milk.

The French (along with many other nations in Europe) drink their tea without milk.
I drink a lot of tea but I never would imagine putting milk in my tea.
And the Germans also like to drink their tea warm or cold (in summer) we don't like hot tea. We only put lemon or sugar in our tea.

But for DLRP: There should be milk available for all the coffee guests.

If I think about it: Is there any other nation that likes tea with milk? ;)

I guess it is expected that most guests don't drink milk with tea :)

That is true Reid but every nation likes to have milk in their coffee; so I don't understand why they don't have milk at the resort?
This is maybe one of the big DLRP mysteries. ;)

I'm a huge tea drinker normally but at DLRP tend to only drink it at the hotel where I serve myself or at table service restaurants where the CM has always asked if I prefer lemon or milk. In the parks, if I am buying from counter service, I tend to buy cold drinks in summer or hot chocolate if it's cold.

I think it's commonly drunk with milk in many parts of Asia.

Thinking about this, I'm sure I've bought tea in the Cable Car Bake House. There wasn't any problem having milk in it, I probably asked for it with milk as it was probably in the back of my mind that it's not normally drunk with milk in France.

Sorry you were inconvenienced but at least you know for next time! :)

It does depend on the type of tea for me. If it's my usual standard cuppa I have to have milk with it but if it's a herbal or fruit tea the only thing I like in is honey. Ever tried black peppermint tea? It's really relaxing and you feel very virtuous especially when you've grown it in your own garden.

[Incidentally I was always told that the reason we have milk
with our tea - and it should go in first - was that the bone china cups used at the time were so delicate that boiling water would shatter them - so we put the milk in to cool the hot liquid and protect the delicate china]

Superb comments and great information! Thank you! Next time I will actually request milk with the tea when I order it.

I like herbal teas and wouldn't put milk in them, but a regular cup of tea I like it with some strength and a little milk.

Ive had tea with milk in several places eg Cable Car Bake shop, Market St Deli. Ive usually been given a small amount in a seperate cup. When Ive seen smaller cartons of milk at breakfast etc it is usually very creamy milk (more like evap) so I tend to get some from teh cereal section for my tea as I hate creamy tea.

With regard to the coffee I wonder if they ask if you want black or with milk and get it from the machine like that as its like that at breakfast -one button for black and one for milky. DH is the coffee drinker in our family but tends to go for Choc in DLP

Maybe as a solution, in France they sell milk in tubes ,just like toothpaste and you can bud "dry" milk in powder form.
Every supermarked sells it.

We take fresh milk to keep in the room (and we're taking a small portable fridge to keep it in as the minibar fills the fridge) but yes, i always ask " with milk" anywhere in Europe or you get a cup of water with a teabag and slice of lemon on the side. They have it with milk in the US but you have to say "black tea with milk" or they assume you want iced tea :rotfl:

I think the point here is to remember that you are in a different country and have to accept that things maybe done differently.
As nobody else can make tea like me or my mum I never drink it away from home and stick to coffee which incidently I never drink at home.
I know I'm odd. :confused3

Sadly the brown liquid that is sold in the parks definitely as little similarly with coffee :confused3
