No major problems going on I-75 Southbound

I am writting this thread from the Hampton Inn & Suites in Valdosta, Georgia because tomorrow my family and I arrive in Clearwater Beach and then on Aug 7 it's off to WDW. Anyway I thought I let anyone that is going Southbound that we had no problems at all. There are some area's where construction is going on, however nothing major to report. So I am referring to what I have seen starting from Detriot all the way to where I am right now. Also driving threw Atlanta this morning was 100% perefct, although I am sure it was because we got there around 9:40 AM this morning.

However for anyone going Northbound I saw that coming from the Kentucky border into Ohio, there looked to be some major construction and it caused a back log on the Northbound side. Hopefully when my family and I drive back home it will be better, so thought I give a heads up.

Just bumping this up one more time if there is anyone who will be traveling soon on I-75, so this information could be helpful for them.

Is this the Hampton Inn newly built (or newly expanded?) near the conference center there? Just curious; It looks like a good stopping point for our next trip (alternative being the nearby Holiday Inn, perhaps).

But just keep in mind... one never knows. This morning I-75 South was closed for several hours due to a truck overturn. The truck damaged the guard rails and spilled "cosmetics" into the river (which makes it a environmental issue!)

Traffic in Atlanta is never boring!

The construction northbound in KY heading into Ohio is pavement and bridge deck work done overnights and on weekends only. The delay Sunday was about an hour and a half northbound around 5:00 PM.

The construction southbound near Lexington should be complete by Labor Day weekend. This has backed up many miles at times, Friday afternoon seems to be the worst time for this area.

Travelling 75 is fine 98% of the time through here-I drive it 4 times a day between Lexington and Georgetown. In the past 3 days, we have had a Grayhound bus catch fire and close the highway both directions, plus a semi loaded with scrap metal overturned northbound closing the highway for 10+ hours.

I know and here is another example. This afternoon just past Ocala there was a huge accident with about 8-10 cars and it closed a long stretch of the Northbound lanes and the traffic back up was horrible and might have had people waiting there for a few hours.

Just curious which part of I-75 South was closed and what state was it in?

I think it opened up 3 years ago and I remember last year we had a room where we saw that they were adding new rooms. However when we were there yesterday, we did not have a room which faced that way so I could not tell you how that is looking.

I can tell you it's the best Hampton Inn we stayed in and we will always want to stay there.
