This was on the news this morning. Nixon's family choose a more private family service. They could have had the state funeral, they choose not to.

Something else interesting, the news also said that all Presidents are required to make funeral plans shortly after they take office. The state funerals take to long to plan "off the cuff".

I'm glad we are having a day of honor for President Reagan. I hope it will make Nancy feel at least somewhat better to see the outpouring of support from her husbands supporters and friends.

I too think it is a lovely gesture. I too get teary eyed each time I hear or see something to do with President Reagan.

I do think though that yesterday should have been a *private* day for the Reagan family. I believe it was unnecessary for the cameras to be focused on Nancy and their daughter hugging next to the casket for a couple of minutes.

Banks will be open on Friday. The Fed Board of Governors gave themselves the day off but are leaving the Federal Reserve Banks open for business.

Chris works for a Bank and he will be working on Friday. Anyway - does anyone have a link for this story? I cant find it on the usps site.

DH works for a bank and they are most definately open on Friday as is the public library I work in. Yesterday I lowered our flag to half staff. It was a sad moment for me.

Banks will be open since the regional Fed banks are open for business. Normal bank hours should apply.

I was hoping for a day off, but nope...not getting one.

There are some banks that are closing, but since the Feds are open, his direct deposit should hit his account as normal and if all else fails, he can go to an ATM to withdraw what he needs.
