No Longer coming to you Live from Disney World! Take 3 DDW'S TAMBU LOUNGE 8/6

Vicki- that green tea sake looks interesting!!!

Patty- i love that picture of Corey and I and Emme on the boat! So cute!! I just love her in that dress.

Thanks everyone for your kind words about my aunt's brother. While I am not directly related to him it is so sad. I have spoken to my aunt and they are having a rough time as expected. They are supposed to be going to Disney at the end of this month but I am not sure if it still on. Part of me thinks they should still go to bring some happiness in their lives. I saw pictures of the procession today. It was amazing. So much compassion from compete strangers.

Corey and I had dinner tonight at Cape May. It isn't my favorite place but it is one of his favorites so we had to go.

The Beach Club had the chocolate carousel up. We had fun trying to find the hidden mickeys while waiting.

I was expecting to be seated a little booth but we actually were sat at a 4 top table. Unfortunately, we were right under a fan and air conditioning vent so it was freeeezing. I was shaking the entire time I was so cold. It was miserable.

I started with the cape may salad, shrimp and cocktail sauce, and some tabbouleh.

Their cape may salad is soooo good! It has craisins and blue cheese and balsamic dressing and is just great! I love their cocktail sauce here. It is spicy from horseradish, my favorite. The shrimp aren't peeled but they are split so it is easy to peel. I think the soup I got was vegetable soup or something. It wasn't anything exciting.

2nd plate included more shrimp, salmon, and mashed potatoes.

The salmon is very good here! I love all of the buffets salmon entrees though.

Yummy kids mac & cheese, prime rib and horseradish, and red skinned potatoes.

The mac and cheese is sooo good here because it is white cheddar and spirals, which I love! I also enjoy their potatoes very much. They are always cooked perfectly. The prime rib was kind of tough.

Corey's massive pile of crab legs. He has about 10 plates of crab here. That is his favorite part of Cape May.

The first plate wasn't that great of crab. It wasn't coming out in one piece but it got better after that.

I had a couple plates of crab legs but that was enough for me.

Now time for dessert. I am still so so so bitter they removed the oreo bon bons.

However, as evidenced by the below, I really enjoy the strawberry shortcake.

The strawberry shortcake is very good here! Delicious and perfect size! The cheesecake with blueberry mousse is flavorless. My opinion stays the same but I still try them every time I come here. The little chocolate flourless cakes are good and a very small perfect bite size.

Cape May was pretty good this time. I loved it the first time but it has gone downhill in my book. This visit redeemed itself a bit though. I love the Cape May Salad, shrimp and cocktail sauce, red skinned potatoes, kids mac and cheese, and crab legs. They used to have some lobster tortellini which was my fav but they took it off a while ago.

After our dinner we went walking into Epcot. I am now a huge fan of the epcot resort area. It was just soooo sooo amazing to walk to Epcot! I wish I could afford that area every time.

Happy after stuffing our bellies

Pretty night

First, thank you to Brenda for the link so I could find your thread.

Rachel, I am so so sorry to hear about the tragic loss in your family. Firemen are true modern day heroes and my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Barb, I am so very impressed with your ability to manage such an undertaking. My goodness. :worship:

Lastly, I was so very fortunate to meet most of this current crop of DIS reviewers and they are as wonderful as you would imagine. So thank you to Paula and Hunter, Beth, Barb, Vicki, Linda and Philip, Rachel, and especially Brenda and Emily for allowing me to join in on your exploits from time to time. They are memories I will cherish forever.

And look, I can even contribute a photo taken while waiting for AK parade, though the folks in behind didn't seem too impressed. :p

Hi Rob! :wave2: Thanks for joining in, and please stick around because you will be making another appearance before this day (Saturday, Dec. 7) of our reviews is over. :thumbsup2

And to all of our readers: Coming up next in our report is our most highly attended dining event,

Dinner at...

We had 11 people in attendance at the Yachtsman dinner and it will be reviewed here by most of them. So was our dinner a huge success or an epic fail? Or perhaps, somewhere in between? :scratchin

Stay tuned for our seven YSH reviews and together we will find out the answer to that question. ;)

Saturday December 7, 2013: Yachtsman Steakhouse Dinner

DSCN7121.jpg

As Barb noted, dinner tonight was at Yachtsman Steakhouse. After a morning at MK followed by an afternoon at AK we now had dinner plans at YSH followed by an Illuminations cruise. Insert the Progressive commercial song “It was the best day” here!

Joining our dinner this evening was Barb, Vicki, Beth, Linda & Philip, Patty & Emme, Paula & Hunter, Em, and me. I believe most of our group had dined at YSH in the past. Barb was the motivating factor for making my first reservation there in the summer of 2012. It quickly became one of our favorite restaurants for dinner despite not heeding her warning about the jar of goo with the cheese plate. Despite that minor misstep, it has been one of the restaurants for which we have returned every WDW trip since. With that first YSH visit we befriended our server Ricardo, who welcomed us back each trip with a nice little postcard and warm greeting.

DSCN7116.jpg

DSCN7117.jpg

As much as we had experienced nothing less than stellar service in the past, this dinner was a departure from that level of service that we expected. For whatever reason, Ricardo did not have an assistant this night and it created some serious service issues that just couldn’t be overlooked. With that, let’s get started.

Our party of 11 was seated at a couple of tables that had been adjoined mid dining room. Here’s a group photo for which Linda must be hiding. I know she was seated next to Barb.

Note: It looks like I am missing a third menu photo. oops!

Perusing the menus
DSCN7127.jpg

We placed our drink orders and it took forever to get them delivered….I had a pina colada since apparently one that day at Yak & Yeti wasn’t enough.

DSCN7126.jpg

Hunter and Paula ordered a bottle of wine for which they were generous enough to share some with me. Photo credit goes to Hunter.
DSCN7145.jpg

After a long wait we were served the awesome onion rolls and flour dusted dinner rolls. Accompanying the rolls is the round of salted butter and the roasted garlic. These rolls can double as dessert if you want more yummy goodness at the end of the meal! I have serious onion roll love!

DSCN7135.jpg

The menu had undergone a change since our last visit and now they no longer had the short ribs that I liked a year ago as well as no hanger steak that I loved in February. I almost went with the prime rib to try something new but in the end I decided to go back to something that I’d had in the past, the filet with mashed potatoes. Em ordered the same thing. For appetizers Em chose “The Land” garden green salad while I went ordered the shrimp cocktail.

While we were waiting for our meal we were visited by Michele who was a Diser who frequents the dining boards. She recognized us and came over to say hi. Hi Michele!

DSCN7133.jpg

The appetizers were delivered so let’s talk about Em’s choice. She loved the serrano ham and the fresh greens with the sweetness of the pear slices. I believe she may have also shared something with Vicki.

The Land Garden Greens Salad: Boston Bibb lettuce, pear, bleu cheese, serrano ham, and orange ($14)
DSCN7157.jpg

YSH has changed the presentation of the shrimp cocktail since our August trip. This version is a little more dramatic although I miss the shrimp being served on a bed of crushed ice. I’m not a fan of the lemon gel but it is easy to avoid those droplets entirely. The other minor change is that the cocktail sauce is smeared on the plate. I’m a dipper so the smear wasn’t entirely to my liking but if I’d known I would have asked for a side of cocktail sauce as well. In any event, it was tasty and I didn’t have trouble finishing off every last morsel of shrimp, even the little pieces that were cut off the side in order to make the shrimp stand up.

Shrimp Cocktail: fennel, chervil, Meyer lemon gel, house cocktail sauce and let’s not forget 4 little pieces of shrimp ($19)
DSCN7151.jpg

DSCN7154.jpg

When our entrees were finally delivered, I have to say that the filet did not disappoint. It was perfectly cooked medium rare to my liking and the cabernet sauce was fabulous. The mashed potatoes were buttery delicious. I was very happy with my entrée choice.

8-oz Black Angus Filet Mignon: Mashed potatoes, Cabernet wine sauce ($48)

DSCN7160.jpg

DSCN7164.jpg

Unfortunately, dinner ran so long that we were not able to order dessert since we had to check in for the Illuminations cruise at 8:30pm. Getting the bills settled for 7 separate parties took a while. The Tables in Wonderland savings for our bill totaled $26.55. Once that was done we had to get moving to the Bayside Marina.

Brenda and Em with Ricardo:

DSCN7170.jpg

This was a great dining experience with these ladies and gentlemen! Despite what I’m sure was a long day, Emme was adorable at dinner and was so cute and the proper little princess through the 2+ hour dinner.

And now for another one of the ladies to weigh in on her experience.....

My turn!

After leaving AK, I took the bus to POP to check-in to my now ready room. I usually request to stay in the 70’s section. The only requests I made this time was to be on the top floor and to be close to transportation. Yes, my room was on the top floor but I was in the 90s sections about as far away from the main building as you could be! Oh well, I wasn’t there much.

After changing, I took a cab to the Yacht Club and met Barb in the lobby for our quick trip to the Club Level lounge. Then we headed down to the Yachtsman to meet up with everyone! I was so excited to meet Linda, Phillip, Patty & Em! I didn’t take many “people” pictures as Brenda was taking care of that!

To start, Paula let us all try her drink – “Santa’s Little Helper”. One sip prompted me to get my own …

This was a really tasty drink. So tasty that I have recreated it at home!

Paula & Hunter were also kind enough to let me have a taste of their wine –

I love that Paula & Hunter are in the background of this pic …

For dinner, I decided on three appetizers mostly because of the disappointing steak I had with Andrew in August. I just didn't want to take a chance and the appetizers all sounded so good to me!

First “The Land” Garden Greens salad –

I thought this was very good. I enjoyed the pieces of Serrano ham and the sweet dressing with the salty blue cheese.

For my dinner, I had the Roasted Heirloom Baby Beets –

And the Fried Oysters –

I only recently discovered that I really love fried oysters so I was happy to see them on the menu. These did not disappoint. I loved the crème fraiche with the salty cavier on the oyster. The beets were very good as well (except for the spongy green thing that I did not eat!)

I did take one picture of Phillip enjoying his evening with Emme!

All in all a really good, fun meal. Although I admit I was fading after only about two hours sleep the night before and travelling that morning. I was really looking forward to our Cruise but definitely felt myself slipping into a groggy fog now & then as the evening went on! So much so that I begged off our Kona breakfast the next morning and agreed to meet everyone at the MK after their breakfast the next day!

Taking a break from watching the Super Bowl commercials (ummm...I mean game ;) ) to add my two cents regarding our dinner at...

Yachtsman Steakhouse is one of my favorite Signature restaurants, so when it was suggested that we dine here before our Illuminations cruise I was all for it. :thumbsup2 I have been to Yachtsman five times previously and had developed a formula for success in dining there. Each time I order iced tea for my beverage, the cheese plate for an appetizer, and the filet with mashed potatoes for my entrée. The only course that I have experimented with has been dessert. I've tried and very much enjoyed their Crème brulee, the Yachtsman Sundae, and most recently the Chocolate-Peanut Cake with Salted Caramel Gelato. Now I know many of you are probably thinking, "Geez, this woman is boring!!!" But my response to you is that old adage, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." ;)

So anyway, let's see if my tried and true YSH formula was again a success or if it finally let me down, shall we?

My first mistake was that I completely forgot to order my usual beverage...

IMG_4736.jpg

I love the iced tea at Yachtsman because they serve it with a small pitcher of simple syrup. I usually drink 3 or 4 glasses of this stuff each time I visit YSH. I have no idea why I didn't remember to order this for my beverage??? :confused3

But thanks to Paula & Hunter's discovery of this "gem" of a holiday cocktail during their pre-dinner visit to the Crew's Cup Lounge, my meal did not suffer one bit from the lack of a great beverage.

Santa’s Little Helper, which consisted of Bailey’s, Butterscotch Schnapps, and Goldschlager (a cinnamon schnapps liqueur)

I'm pretty sure that after one sip of this drink, Santa would say, "Heck with the milk and cookies, bring on the cocktails!!" :woohoo: (And btw, this was the first of three that I had during this trip.) ;)

Ok, moving on now to the appetizer course. Having just had some snacks at the Concierge Lounge and with the hope of saving room for dessert, I decided to forego ordering the cheese plate and had only the...

IMG_4735.jpg

And no I didn't devour the whole basket of rolls. :p I let Emme have the flour dusted ones because I'm partial to the pull-apart onion rolls.

Just kidding of course, as eating all the onion rolls would have no doubt resulted in a fist fight breaking out at our end of the table. :lmao:

Actually the reason that I took the above photo had nothing at all to do with the rolls though. When we first were seated at the table I remember thinking that if I were a 3 (almost 4) year old (like Emme), how sooo un-fun this meal would be. Dinner with 9 complete strangers...all adults. :worried: But that was before I knew that we had a "kid at heart" among us.

Before our appetizer course had arrived, Philip (Linda's DH) had Emme grinning from ear to ear...that beautiful smile that I had seen in her photos. It was a wonderful thing to witness...Bravo Philip, well done!!! :goodvibes

But getting back to the food now. I finally got back on track with my entrée order...

8-oz. Black Angus Filet Mignon with Cabernet Wine Sauce and served with Mashed Potatoes

Again this was delicious, no complaints here whatsoever!! :thumbsup2

As Brenda had mentioned, we had a boat to catch that night and with our meal taking so very long there ended up being no time for dessert. So my plan to skip an appetizer in order to have dessert was completely foiled. :(

However, even without dessert I would say that my meal at Yachtsman was for the most part a success. :thumbsup2

Ok, I'm done and it looks like Denver is too. Seattle, can I hitch a ride with you to Disney World?

Coming up next...reviews from Linda, Patty, Paula, and Beth. But I have no idea in what order??? ;)

updated 2/2/14

YACHTSMAN STEAKHOUSE

after our day at DHS, emme & i took the boat back to the boardwalk as our room was finally ready. we were staying in the villas & sharing the room with corey & rachel. i picked up the room keys & also made sure the key was activated on my mickey band.

the villas are on the 1st floor and our room was probably 1/4 mile walk from the elevator. it was far especially when i had all my bags, plus a kid, plus a jogging stroller. when i got to my door, none of my keys worked. neither did my mickey band. what was worse was that there was no phone reception so i had to drag all my stuff back to the check in desk. i was so unhappy & really irritated because now i would be late for dinner & it is a total pain to keep dragging my things back and forth. i had the girl at the front desk follow me down to my room in case my door did not open....and voila, after giving me a new set of keys, my door opened.

i felt so rushed now & i was still really irritated. i decided to walk to the yacht club instead of taking the boat. instead of enjoying the beautiful scenery, i was still really irritated & was speed walking but i was on the verge of being late. we arrived to yachtman & turns out that i was one of the first people there. *phew*

by now, i was a hot sweaty mess. i burned off a ton of calories & was ready to eat. barb, linda & vicki were already at YSH. i was so sweaty & didn't want to hug anyone but hugs for everyone. emme decided she wanted to be shy.

we were taken to our table & the hostess saw emme and said in a not so nice way, "oh, no one mentioned there would be a child". i was a bit taken aback & i literally had to bite my tongue because i would have said some not so nice words. i really needed a drink. a very stiff drink.

11958372593_f339e7c570_z.jpg

seating was really tricky. i had emme & i didn't want to burden anyone by having them sit next to emme. some people aren't kid friendly, some people are...you just never know. but GOD BLESS phillip for being emme's knight in shining armor. he totally entertained her, indulged her & kept her company throughout dinner. he was a total star.

emme was well prepared to stay occupied during dinner. she practically carried all her earthly belongings to dinner & phillip played with all her toys with her. what a guy!

11957851124_c4b756ce81.jpg

me & my emme.

our server was really sweet but i think he was a little overwhelmed with our entire table. i was seated next to beth & across from vicki, barb & linda. emme was to my right & phillip was sitting at the head of the table on our side. beth & i both ordered martini's. she ordered a hendrick's and i ordered a dirty vodka martini.

11958069565_6e83878c3d_z.jpg

the ambiguous Martini

beth tried her martini & realized her martini had olive juice in it. i tasted mine & i'm pretty sure i had beth's but mine also tasted like it was a little dirty (maybe from the olives) but i like gin so i didn't care. i was going to send it back but it was taking our server forever to get us situated so i happily enjoyed my martini...gin or vodka, at this point....it didn't matter.

11958741096_2e23c3cf19_z.jpg

part of the menu

while we were reviewing the menu, bread service begins.

11958875686_2fc3fdfa45_z.jpg

11958472484_b7fdc026a4_z.jpg

this was my first time at YSH & honestly, besides this trip, i've had no desire to dine at YSH. however, after eating these ridiculously delicious onion rolls, i would come back....just to eat another one of these onion rolls. oh my. they are scrumptious. the inside was chewy & tasted of onion...it wasn't overwhelming but had a definite onion flavor. i could have happily just eaten onion rolls with a side of dirty martinis for my dinner. mmmmm mmmmm.

beth & i were talking and we somehow got onto the topic of california grill. we both had really awful service our last visit to CG and turns out we had the same server....JORGE. small world! after our CG discussion, we decided to both order a wine flight after noticing linda's generous pour she received with her wine flight.

unfortunately, our entrees arrived before our wine did.

for my entree, i chose the charcuterie board. i wasn't feeling a steak & who doesn't like cured meats?

11958247573_fc62a9488c_z.jpg

11958467594_46df7a9387_z.jpg

Charcuterie Board -suckling pig, country sausage, cured meats, and accoutrements $18.00

the wine finally arrived.

11958452504_16a72f84a0_z.jpg

linda's pour was much nicer than mine but hey,it's wine, i'm not complaining. however, beth & i both concluded that we should have split a bottle.

some close up's of my charcuterie board:

11958834046_75abb8bb93_z.jpg

Country style sausage

this was my second favorite of the bunch. it was paired with a really delicious blackberry sauce that paired perfectly with the sausage. total match made in heaven.

11958444414_728d03c336_z.jpg

Calabrese

this had a bit of a kick due to the cayenne pepper. it was also very good.

11958278403_135aa64545_z.jpg

Pepperoni

i am not a pepperoni fan & i could feel my sodium level going through the roof with a bite of this. it had a really nice depth of flavor & would have devoured the entire thing if i were a pepperoni fan. it was really well made, however.

11958285103_26c8f135f4_z.jpg

Chicken pate

i love any type of pate. the pate was paired with a hazelnut powder which i thought was pretty neat. the pate was so very pretty & was very flavorful. there was no "gamey" taste to the pate at all. two thumbs up from me.

11958262463_6d13afe59d_z.jpg

Duck pastrami

the duck pastrami was absolutely delightful. even though it as served room temperature, the fat didn't become jelly nor was it hard. it literally melted in your mouth (fat is flavor, right?). the mustard was paired nicely with the pastrami. i wish i saved an onion roll so i could have made me a duck pastrami slider. it would have been divine together.

my favorite item on the board was the Chasseur pate. it is the item on the top row & in the middle. it was stuffed with pistachios that brought a nice amount of sweetness to suckling pig. again, there was no gamey taste to this. the chasseur was mouth watering good. i savored every bite. yummy!

and here is a picture of my table setting with the entree:

11958794166_0052ce13bb_z.jpg

this charcuterie board was $18 and i thought that was a total bargain. i had the "duck" charcuterie board at CG and out of the two, i prefer the one at YSH.

as if the charcuterie board was not enough food, i also ordered:

11958213933_d3affd7dc1_z.jpg

Truffle Mac & Cheese - Orecchiette Pasta and Reypenaer Cheese $12.00

now would be the perfect time for smell-o-vision or scratch & sniff. YSH version of macaroni & cheese was sinfully good. the cheese was so creamy & didn't become a hardened mess after it cooled. it was a HUGE portion & i tried to pawn if off to my fellow diners but everyone was so full. it does say "truffle" mac & cheese but there was such small amounts of truffle in there. i couldn't tell if it was cracked black pepper or actual super tiny shavings or gratings of truffle. (i love truffles btw). the dish was beautifully presented and worth the $12.00. i don't say that about a lot of disney food.

what did emme order?

11958774476_1f3f249863_z.jpg

Pasta tossed with butter

BRAVO YSH for finally presenting a butter pasta dish that looks & tastes good. YSH has been the only place so far where it looks like the chefs actually cared as to what they were preparing for a child. the butter was actually melted on the pasta & they put some fresh parmesean cheese on top.

the worst offender for butter pasta is BOG. their pasta is atrocious & disgusting.

but i digress....

emme didn't want macaroni & cheese so i asked if they could put some butter on her pasta and toss some cheese into it. needless to say, i was ecstatic that her pasta was edible & the fact that she actually devoured the entire thing. it blows my mind that most disney restaurants mess up the most simplest of dishes or they just don't care.

was the pasta worth the $8.00? absolutely not, but i was happy emme ate.

the 2+ hours at YSH went by so quickly. thanks to phillip keeping emme company, i actually got to take part in adult conversations and really enjoyed my time speaking with barb, linda, vicki & beth. i wish the table was a circle so that i could have easily see & talk to everyone. during dinner, i regretted not being able to meet up with the others at the other meals but my time at disney was so very short. i was grateful for the time that we did have together.

my first experience at YSH is mixed. i felt bad for our server as he was completely overwhelmed with everything. he was as sweet as can be & eager to please but i know he was having a tough night.

would i return to YSH? i think i would just to indulge in the onion rolls and the mac & cheese. maybe i can convince rachel to go there during our trip in march & we can just eat appetizers. i secretly just want to munch on those onion rolls all night. those things are ridiculous.

the quality of the food was super high. everyone's food looked really well made & very fresh. i applaud YSH for figuring out how to cook buttered pasta for emme. it made me a really happy mom that emme actually ate her entire dinner.

and despite it being a signature, i didn't feel out of place with emme & didn't feel like it was a place that parents could not bring their kids. it was loud but not as loud as flying fish. the lighting is dim so it might not work well with some children. emme had a great time (thanks to phillip) and our server was super sweet to her as well....even though he tried to give phillip his drink in a kids cup by accident. ha ha.

i was sad that i had to say good bye to everyone. it was definitely nice to put faces to names & i really enjoyed my time with everyone! i hope to see some of you again & share another meal (or two).

dinner was a bit long and everyone needed to get to the boat. emme & i were headed to magic kingdom to see wishes and squeeze in some more rides. but before we said our final farewells, i took some photos & made this collage:

12276911345_20d3295775.jpg

minnie mouse ears for vicki, barb & linda!

after saying farewell, we had a much more nicer walk back to the boardwalk...we changed clothes & hopped onto the bus and made our way to MK...just in time for wishes.

We have only actually dined at YSH once before, a few years ago now, but still remember what wonderful meal we had there

It was great to have everyone together around one big table. Myself and Philip were seated at the far end of the table. I was next to Barb and Philip was next to little Emme, who is even more cute in real life!

To kick things off, I ordered a glass of Prosecco and Philip ordered a Coke. There were some fun cocktails being consumed around the table and everyone took their time perusing the menu

Nothing was jumping out at me on the entree menus so I decided to take the route of ordering two appertizers

Cheese Plate

When this was first delivered to me, there was no explanation as to which cheese was which so I caught the attention of our server and asked it he could get me one of the information cards that I’ve usually received when ordering cheese plates. He quickly headed off and picked one up for me

So big fail here, I didn’t keep hold of the little card that details which cheese was which!

Anyway, one thing I do remember was that the dish wasn’t plated up correctly, the wrong accomapyment was lined up next to the wrong cheese so I was happy that I had the menu card in order that I could try the right combination. Everything was great, and my favorite was the blue cheese (we’ll just have to pretend we know what it was!)

Oh, you can probably spot the Merlot flight in the back of the picture. I’ve just looked up the menu and here is what is currently listed

Coppola, California ’09, Benziger, Sonoma County ’07, De Toren Z, Stellenbosc ’09

I have to admit I loved every single one of these and they were a very generous pour!

DH surprised me with his appertizer choice by ordering the Fried Oysters - Rockefeller, creme fraiche, osetra caviar. (sorry no photo) He isn’t usually a fan of oysters but he absolutely loved this dish and ate every last scrap.

For my entree I ordered the "The Land" Garden Greens - Boston Bibb, pear, blue cheese and blood orange. This dish normally comes served with serrano ham but I asked for this to left off which wasn’t a problem according to our lovely server

I liked the idea of the leaves coming from The Land at Epcot, if anyone doesn't believe this to be true, please don’t shatter my illusions!

It was a lovely, light and flavorsome dish. The dressing was perfect and was lightly applied which I much prefer. I hate it is salads are drowned in dressing

DH ordered the same entree as many of the others; the 8-oz Black Angus Filet Mignon - Mashed Potatoes, and Cabernet Wine Sauce - NOTE: PHOTO STOLEN FROM BARB!

He asked for his steak to be ordered medium and tells me that it was perfectly cooked and a beautiful tender piece of meat. The only downside was that he found the whole dish to be over seasoned and too salty for his taste. Salt levels are a pretty personal thing but we use very little salt when cooking at home so we often find restaurant dishes a bit too salty for us.

All in all though it was a wonderful meal and lovely to spend time with everyone. DH was more than happy to keep Emme entertained, she is such a sweetie and it was lovely to finally meet Patty and Vicki having met all the others by now

So no dessert tonight - we had a boat to catch!

Wow, you ladies are cracking on with these reviews now. Sorry your service was less than stellar at YSH, sounds as though your server may have been a bit overwhelmed. Either way, the fab reviews and photos have made me even more excited to be eating there in less than 6 weeks :cool1:

Oh, and who knew Philip was so good with kids (or likes playing with toys) ;)

Good Morning!! Hunter and I arrived to the Yachtsman at exactly 6pm. I had been texting that we might be late as when we left AK we hoped on a bus to WL, quickly changed, and then a bus to Hollywood Studios and a boat to the Yacht Club. Unfortunately the bust to Hollywood Studios stopes at the campgrounds first so we were very time crunched. However we were not the last ones there!!

While waiting to be seated Hunter went into the Crew Cup Lounge to get us a drink. Not knowing he planned to surprise me though I ran in to make sure we took advantage of the TiW card. The drink he planned to surprise me with was Santa's Helper. Unfortunately I did not get a picture but as you've seen both Barb and Vicki tried my drink and ordered ones of their own! The drink was delicious and very rich!!

Then it was time to be seated for dinner.

Yachtsman Steakhouse was a restaurant Hunter and I had not had good luck with. The first time we dined there I had an AWFUL cold unfortunately so I don't remember much of the meal but I remember we had service issues. The second time we again had service issues.. I was actually leaning away from doing this meal with the group but since I wanted to do the Illuminations Cruise and it was the dinner the majority of the group had signed up for so I thought I would give it another chance. Plus Brenda had requested the server she had previously so I thought it would be better. Unfortunately as others have mentioned it did not seem to be a good night for Ricardo. He seemed to be flustered and rushed. The rushed unfortunatly did not mean fast service for our group though. In fact we were there well over an hour before we even began to place our orders.

Hunter and I had planned to get a bottle of wine. We knew exactly which one we wanted but wanted to see the Wine List to make sure it was still on the menu. When Ricardo came by for drink orders we asked for the Wine List. He said he would get it but never did. We finally snagged a hostess for the list. Hunter quickly made sure our wine was listed and ordered it through her.

While waiting we had received the delicious rolls.

And finally our wine!

Rombauer Zin is our FAVORITE wine. We are part of the wine club and drink it often! And with this you get a picture of the beautiful Emily cheering that we finally received it!

For an appetizer we ordered the Charcuterie

Miss Patty's picture above is so much better than mine!
She also did a full description so I will not repeat! Plus I don't remember the different items! I do remember we ate it all though...

For our Entree we split the Ribeye which comes with Bone Marrow and Brioche. I did not do any substiting this time so that way we would not have any issues with Hunter's seafood allergy.

Now. It may look like the steak was split evenly but when you take a ribeye and cut it on the horizontal one person will get all the fat (aka flavor) side and the other will get all the meat! We had this issue last time and thought it was a fluke (and the reason to not do any substitutions). This time we simply put the two pieces back together and cut them on the vertical so as we both had equal meat and flavor. And let me tell you! The flavor was AWESOME! I am happy we made this steak choice!

Unfortunately at this point time was an issue and we were not able to order dessert in order to make it to the cruise on time. Overall the food was delicious but the service would still keep us from returning without others convincing us to go!

The slushie stand in France isn't gonna know what's hit it ;)

Count me in on the October slushie meet! :thumbsup2 I had been hesitant to tell my DH Don about my plan to go to Disney World in October, as I know he is unable to take time off then. However, over the weekend he was invited to join in on a guy trip to Colorado to go skiing either later this month or in early March. This was my perfect opportunity to mention my solo trip to the World in October. I was however a little surprised by his response, "Do you really think you can wait that long?'' :lmao:
