Did I read somewhere that they've taken the lap bars off ToT?
How do you stay on the seat?

you have a seat belt

i miss the bar - for one, you got some 'air time' with it. (I had a pooh sized gentlemen next to me once...the lap bar was no where near my lap - I had lots of air time.) But I also dont' have anything to apply a death grip to! hehehe

There are 2 handles on the bench that you can hold on to. I get way more "airtime" with the seatbelts anyways. Just don't make it supertight and you are fine. Also, you can hold on to the person sitting next to you if you wish.

Besides, why would you want to hold on? Hands up the whole time!!!

I rode without the lapbars for the first time in December. I didn't feel the need to hold on. I thought it was better with the lapbars than the seatbelts, more airtime.

I liked to hold on!!! And if I don't know the person next to me I don't like having to have my hands under some of their legs, and vice versa.

I miss the lapbars also :( . It was the best airtime. The seatbelts tighten up so even if you try ot leave it loose it tightens up on its own.

This ride is much improved without the lapbars. First of all, I had much more feeling of floating out of my seat without having my legs crunched against a piece of metal. It is actually less rough and much more fun. Secondly, the variability in the ride makes it much more interesting; seems like I spent much more time going up and down, and less time sitting anticipating a drop. It truly is a much better ride without the bars.

I think I'm definitely going to miss the lapbar too. All of the previous times I've been on ToT, I've applied quite a death grip to the bar. (One hand on top, the other holding it from the bottom and squeezing REALLY tight). I'm also kind of small so the lapbar never touched my legs and I always got lots of air time. Guess I'll miss that, but it still should be fun to ride it this way now. Just may have to put a death grip on the person in front of me, whether I know them or not!

If you really want to experience the ride the way its meant to be experienced, don't hold onto anything. Put your hands together in your lap and it's totally different :D

One time my sister and I went on ToT together (trip without my kids and her grandkids) and we were seated next a rather portly man. When the lapbar was lowered, my sister turned to the man and said, "suck it in". What a funny moment that was and the man's wife liked my sister's comment. lol

I liked the bar better than the seatbelts since the seatbelts tighten up.

T&B

I thought the seat belts were okay. I seemed to get lots of air time with them, maybe more than with the lap bar.
If you get an end seat by the walls, you have a hand hold that is attached to the wall itself instead of by the seat.
