Just an FYI...there are no hot tubs available at any universal resorts. Not sure if it's a state wide Florida thing or what. It is due to COVID.

2 weeks ago when I called to book, my husband said it was a REQUIREMENT to have a hot tub available or we weren't going. So, I called the hotel directly to ask them (Loews Royal Pacific). And the response I received was "ABSOLUTELY! All of our pools are fully open and hot tubs as well." Today, when we came down to the pool we learned that NO. Hot tubs are available at any Universal resort. My husband and I are upset as it's one of our most "looked forward to" activities. Especially after a busy park day.

I mean, I fully understand the Covid situation is out of their control. But, when I called to ask, they TOLD ME IT WAS OPEN.

We would probably not have come or booked a different time if we had known. Thought I'd offer the info. Since it's not widely known and they don't know what they're talking about on the phone. There is another family here and the dad/adult male in their group is LIVID because they were told everything was open too.

Yes, the hot tubs haven`t been open since the hotels re-opened last year.

I think several people mentioned it who have been there since.

FWIW, not Florida-wide. FL Dept of Health's posted guidelines say that as long as their recommendations for water treatment are properly followed, COVID transmission is not a threat.

Well, without testing it daily yourself, technically you can't.

However, Florida pools & spas not in private homes have to be permitted, must keep a daily testing log, and they are subject to random testing/inspections and fines, so if a hotel is reputable, you can look at that risk in balance. (You could also ask to see the testing log if you know enough about pool maintenance to understand it.)

It's a hard lesson learned - but we've found calling any hotel to ask about available amenities hit and miss. Many use call answering businesses that can reside half-way around the world and don't even have current information about the property you are asking about. I'd still call, but I would also ask on the boards. Hopefully someone who is there or has recently returned will see your question and can actually answer your questions.

I don't know about other Universal hotels, but at Cabana Bay, the people who answer the phones are actually at the hotel. On one of our trips, I had a very specific question about the equipment in the fitness center (I was in Orlando to run a half marathon and was trying to figure out if I needed to pack my foam roller) and the person who answered the phone actually went up and looked.

The Hot Tubs at BLT, Riviera and OKW are all open as we have stayed here for all 4 of our trips

Yeah, there are NO hot tubs available anywhere on Universal properties. We were told it was due to COVID and they didn't have enough "staff" to monitor the numbers of people in the hot tubs. BUT, the manager said that they'll "most likely open when Volcano bay opens"...I don't know why it matters, some people don't care to follow the social distancing rules in the pool either.

I understand the social distancing rules. I just wish we weren't given false information when we called the hotel DIRECTLY. I spoke to a manager about that (as nicely as I could) and they comped our parking for the week. I really dislike getting false info. from a phone call- and that bothered me. But, they were good about it.
