No Gift or Cake for B-day. Would you be upset?

I say to him often that I dont just pick a date out of the air and say, 'My birthday is today' guess what its the same every year.

Sad as it may be I tell him not to bother any more, because then I have made the choice, but I also dont bother for him anymore, sad very sad, it doesnt seem to bother him but I miss having a special day.

Did you kids tell you Happy Mother's Day and acknowledge it? I'm not quite sure what your DH was supposed to do since you are not his mother.

SORRY! Let me clear that up for you...what I actually meant was, he didn't bother taking the kids shopping to buy a gift. I actually make the effort to take the kids shopping to let them pick out gifts for him, for Father's Day.

I would make sure to not let the kids grow up thinking this is acceptable. You don't want them to treat their spouses birthday this way, right?

For your husbands bday, I'd make sure to give the oldest child some money and take them to the store. Let the kids do the shopping for DH's birthday. That way, when it's your bday, maybe they will ask DH to take them shopping for your bday.

, I would be upset, because to me he felt obligated to take me to dinner because he forget to get me a card and or say HB to me. I stopped doing all the giving in my family, I was too worn out by always being the one to give all the cards, call, by presents and not receive anything in return. It used to hurt my heart too, but since I have stopped the ones that used to receive are now reciprocating. Guess God does work in mysterious ways. I know the bible says it is better to give than receive, but he did not say to always be taken advantage of. I hope your day when better.
