Our radio station here in Dallas Texas is reporting no gas in MS. Is this true? We leave in the morning to drive from Texas to Orlando taking I-20 across to Columbus and then down to I-75. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Well your big problem is that even if there is gas there is not much POWER on that route.. So the gas is stuck.. without power it can't be pumped into your car. LOTS of MS is without power.... I would not let my tank get below half on the trip....

I looked on mapquest... If I were you I would go post over on the Community Board. There are a bunch of people over there mointoring the situation in LA, MS To me it looks like there could easily be several hundred miles with no power and bad conditions...

i am in ms & if i were you i would not go that route. it would be better to connect with hwy. 82 & go to columbus on that. it is not a fun route but i don't think the roads in central & south ms are going to be any better at this point.

interstate 20 runs through jackson & there is no power in much of the area & there is a shortage of gas. i work for a newspaper 100 miles north of there & we sent gas to a sister newspaper in jackson this afternoon b/c there is no power to run the pumps & the pumps that are running there are empty.

north of jackson there is power & gas although the prices are steep. they jumped from $2.49 to $2.99 yesterday here. hwy. 82 would take you through the town i live in. i am 100 miles west of columbus.

hope this helps.

I am in Greenville, MS. You would cross the MS river here if your traveled hwy 82. We have plenty of gasoline at this point. In fact prices DROPPED today, only 7 cents, but that is a start. Price here now is 2.71 a gallon. :moped:

If your station reported no gas in ALL of MS, they had best check their source!!!
Tinker 7--I wish our price would go as low as $2.99!!!

I was thinking the same thing! I paid $3.699 last Friday and $3.459 last night!
