Ok, for those who are complaining that their children can't take their toys, games, teddies, colouring books etc.. on the plane.

There are lots of games you can play with your children to keep them occupied...

The obvious one is I SPY .... come on guys I know you've got some good ones, start posting them cos lots of disers are going to need them

"Buzz/Boiiing!" is ok too for a while - I first came across it as a drinking game at college but now I use it with the kids in school to secure table/multiple knowledge (says a lot about my style of teaching - hehe)

E.g Buzz is multiples of 5, Boing is multiples of 8
you count 1, 2, 3, 4, Buzz, 6, 7, Boing and so on unitl you've reached 100 or whatever
Might fill a minute or two

And the ever faithful stones, paper, scissors keeps my little lad amused for ages.

Or what about the name game - can play in several ways - start by thinking of a famous person - say their name, the next person has to think of another famous persons name whose first name begins with the initial letter of the last characters surname

e.g Jonny Depp, Drew Barrymoor, Britney Spears, Sigourney Weaver etc(boy, that took some thinking about!) or challenge the kids to think of disney names or play the alphabet game with disney characters - Aladdin, Baloo, Cleo, Donald Duck etc

Good luck anyway guys if you're travelling in the next week or two - reckon there will be disruption for a while (but its all for the best!)

Ahhh! We called it Fizz Buzz on multiples of 3 and 5. Get it wrong and the "Chief Sneak" would inform the "Chairman" who would hand out your "punishment" (usually 1 or 2 fingers width of beer). As the evening went on the game got more difficult! :lmao:

How about:

"My ship's full of...."

For instance I would say:

"My ship's full of raspberries"

The next person would then reply and be told whether they were correct or not.

A great idea for a thread.
My daughter loves I spy and will play it anywhere.
when I was a kid we used to play guess who, we would describe some one and the other people would have to guess who it was.

Simon sais

I'm so hungry I could eat game i.e. you go through the alphabet the first person could say I'm so hungry I could eat an apple and the next person has to say I'm so hungry I could eat an apple and a banana etc...

Great Idea for a thread Thanks

keep the ideas coming even if you have no kids
There could be some sitting beside you :rotfl2:

9 hours on the plane with nothing to do

Great thread!

What about the alphabet of Orlando attractions?

A - Animal Kingdom
B - Blizzard Beach
C -Cat In the Hat
D - Dinosaur
E - ET

etc etc

How about making up a story - each member of the family makes up one sentence.
E.G
Person A says " Once Upon a time there was a beautiful castle set in the woods"....

Person B then creates the second sentence ............ and so on.

(They can take some fun twists!)

... and there's always Stone, Paper, Scissors too!

... whoops! Dossie already suggested Stone, paper scissors :)

But I have another - word association. Someone says a word and the next person has to come up with a word that has a link to that word. You can do this in rhythm - so you all count 1, 2, 3 and the person has to say the word after 3.

We've played 'alphabetical' games with the Stringers a lot lately (park rides, characters, etc), but there are quite a few initials which quickly become tricky.

Last weekend we played a '20 questions' type game which was much more fun. The person who starts can think of anything at all and the other participants take it in turn to ask 'Yes/No' type questions - "Is it in a park?", "Is it an attraction?", "Is it a restaurant", "Is it at a resort", "Is it at a water park", "Is it at Downtown Disney", etc.

as my DD calls it....

"reading stories from your head" :goodvibes

Good old story telling....ours always begin 'Once upon a time there was a little girl, her mummy and daddy and they got on a big shiney aeroplane to the BIG SESASIDE!' :wizard:

Keep these coming, or maybe begin a thread "101 things to do with a clear plastic bag".......I'll begin!

1. Make a puppet

4 days and counting to our flight....bit scared but can't wait to see Mickey!

Great idea for a thread :thumbsup2

We spent endless car trips with our DDs (in the dinosaur age before i-Pods ;) ) on all sorts of variations of alphabet games and 20 questions games - most usually simple topics like animals, boys' names / girls' names, foods, etc. worked best. You can adjust the topic difficulty depending on the ages of the children playing :)

The 'old-fashioned' games are good for getting the whole family invloved.

Good old fashion charades - Disney-related, of course!

If you're still getting the on-board entertainment packs and they come with pen and paper, then perhaps that would also open up another line of entertainment.

If there's lots of you and you're sat in a reasonably good formation of seating, Zip, Zap, Bong could be a giggle, although perhaps slightly noisy for the other passengers, unless they end up joining in too! :thumbsup2

Now we're talking - I forgot you'd get the paper and pen in your in flight packs - Hangman, Battleships, Squares, consequences, picture consequences, - it's endless.

Why do we spend so much money and time buying toys and games and finding ways to fit them into hand luggage - think this thread is proving there is no need.

Cool thread guys

You know you're quite right there! It just provides how material goods are taking over our lives!

Here's another idea: how about doing something people so infrequently do these days - sit around and have a nice family talk, really get to know you family again! Let's all discover the art of communication away from the computers, phones and internet! :teeth:
