No Fort, not even on property

While I'm excited to be coming back to the World in a couple of weeks to chaperone my DD's Chorus, it's started to sink in that I won't be at the Fort, or even staying on property at all! Since we got a pop up in 2004 I haven't stayed in a hotel and with the pop up quickly being traded in for a 5th wheel 3 months later, I'm really spoiled!

Has anyone else exclusively used their RV for years and then contemplated staying in a hotel? I never used to be like this, but the thought of sleeping in a "public" bed that countless strangers have slept in... Ewwww.

Plus I'll miss the Fort. Good thing we're all coming back again in May, in our own home away from home!

5 to 7 times per year at FW and numerous other on property stays. As long as we're on WDW property it makes no difference to us. We have had great times at WDW no matter where we stayed.

I'm with you! We love the Fort and would stay there every time if we could. In June though, we're coming down for dd to dance in a parade at MK and a stage performance at DHS, and we have to stay in one of three Disney properties, none of which is the Fort. We chose the Polynesian, which I'm sure will be nice, but it's not the Fort! I'm already skeeved out, worrying about bed bugs and such, 'cause that's just the way I'm wired, but I hope I can put that behind me before we head down! I will definitely miss the Fort--dh said we should go over and visit while we're at the Poly, but I think it would just bum me out that we're not staying there and our dogs are at home with a sitter! Next time will be the Fort for sure, with our dogs, in our own beds!

Lysol spray and wipes help. It will be fun, just a different kind of fun. Where will the chorus be performing?

You are not alone! We even bought into the Disney Vacation Club, but I still want to be in the campground! This year we gave our points to our grown kids to use. We bought an Airstream and I'm planning to camp once again. There is just nothing like The Fort

Have a great trip with DD and the Chorus!

My DW chaperoned my DD's show choir trip last April and they had a lot of fun. They sang on the big stage at Downtown Disney in front of the World of Disney store, stayed offsite somewhere on International Boulevard, and hit the MK and Disney Studios.

I can't imagine going back to WDW without staying at the Fort.

Thanks everyone! I'm glad I'm not the only one who loves staying at the Fort so much! And yes, bed bugs did cross my mind, and I *will* be using lots of wipes and Lysol, lol.

I think she's singing on the big stage at Downtown Disney, too. I know it will be fun and exciting.

It just hit me two days ago when I saw a pretty piece of luggage that I could actually use some luggage. I usually pack all our clothes in those pop up hampers to carry them into the RV and then put the clothes away in our drawers and then put the hampers in cabinets to use as, well, hampers. I don't actually own real luggage anymore!
