.... Had I known before the trip I would have re-arranged our schedule. The CM's at the resorts also don't tell you about this when you check in which I feel they should do.

I haven't heard of CM's informing anyone checking in about *any* large groups....cheerleaders and Pop Warner, the trucker and automobile convention, any large corporate conventions, Brazilian teenagers (who appearantly have created a stir for some ), whatever large groups that have had get togethers....I wouldn't expect Disney CM's to handle Gay Days any differently. In fact, I would be quite disturbed if they *did* treat Gay Days any differently than any other organizations' get-togethers or conventions!

Although I did receive a letter at the GF last year during our stay, stating how busy MK would be and recommending other parks, no one ever said it was because of this group or that group. The note just referenced they were expecting busier than normal crowds. IMHO though, the crowds were NO worse than any other time of the year I have gone.

In fact, I would be quite disturbed if they *did* treat Gay Days andy differntly than any other organizations get-togethers or conventions!

I knew Gay Days was sometime in June and asked the Cast Member about it when making my reservations. CM told me he could not give me any info on that because it is not an official disney sactioned event. So that is probably why they don't say anything except high crowd level at the parks those days.

I'm not sure what kids you have been around but I have 2 (14/11) and both will/have asked what was going on when they have seen a situation like that. It is only natural for kids to ask questions when they see things they normally do not see or encounter. I do agree it is a good time to have a discussion with them and allow them to ask questions and tell you what they think, but to say that most kids would not notice anything different is just silly.

I'm not sure what kids you have been around but I have 2 (14/11) and both will/have asked what was going on when they have seen a situation like that. It is only natural for kids to ask questions when they see things they normally do not see or encounter. DisneyVillain was speaking about disrailfan's post about 7 year old children.

Cool it is not during my families vacation this year. I am not against them it is just interesting explaining to the 7 year old of the couple that is going with us.

Children usually don't even notice the larger than usual number of same-sex couples. And don't think anything of it if they do notice.

I think there is a HUGE difference in things that children (young) notice than kids that are 10 - 11 and teens. I would venture to say IMHO that most "children" that are in the single digit age bracket are not noticing things like that (i.e. same sex couples holding hands.), kids that are 10 and up are noticing things like that because their hormones are starting to kick in.

Fair enough. I saw the word children in the post and I think children are more perceptive than alot of people give them credit for. That is why you see commercials directed towards them--the advertisers know this and use it to turn a profit.

I would NOT take my family to Disney World during gay days! We have not drunk the kool-aid of "diversity" to accept inappropriate relationships. We are not interested in "exposing" are children. I took my entire family and my inlaws to WDW during gay days a couple of years ago. It was no big deal. My kids knew about gay days and we simply did not care.

The crowds at MK was slightly higher than normal (almost as many people avoid the park on that day as those who attend for the event). It was no big deal and my kids were not scared by the expierence.

Joe I am glad to hear you won't be coming to Disney the first week of June, it will be one less family that the person who started this thread will have to worry about, SINCE her original concern about this time of year had to do with CROWD SIZE, not WHO was going to be at the parks. She was asking about CROWD SIZES, NOT who drinks from the "kool-aid of diversity", the NEA or the definition of homophobe.

The only thing that came to my mind when I found out this event was going on during our stay was BFD-so what? Who cares? If a park is busy we'll just bounce to another-thats why we have park hopper passes.

Look, we are a mixed race couple. I'm Asian (Chinese), DH is Caucasian, and we have two beautiful mixed race children. Do you think our relationship is "inappropriate"?

Mister Disney, I think you are right about younger children not knowing or caring. I remember when our children were in the toddler/preschool age. It was not usual for girls and boys to be holding hands with each other while playing, walking, crossing the street, etc. It's not until later that the element of sexual attraction is added to hand-holding.

I like to plan our PS's for dinner for the park that we will be touring. I know from experience that PS's are essential for the prime dinner times in the summer, so that's why I was trying to get a sense of which parks to schedule, and which dinners to plan.
