that visit's DL, are they from overseas, or is there a predominant asian population in the area, somewhat similar to the hispanic population in the southern states. The reason I ask is there seeemed to be as many asian heritage visitors as there were hispanic visitors. Just wondering if DL is a big draw from asia, as opposed to wdw, which, of course, is farther.

Not that there isn't a large Asian population in S CA, but if you were there last weekend, there were a large number of Japanese tourists (more than usual). I do think that DL is a bit of a bigger draw than WDW as it is closer. A few of the ones I met were CMs at Tokyo Disneyland and were pretty interesting to talk to.

Another contributing factor may be that DL is a very easy and inexpensive trip from Vancouver BC where more than half our population is of Asian decent.... :flower:

Back in the day (80s and early 90s) there were a large amount of tourists from Japan. They were more often then not dressed corporate attire. As DisneyLAND fell into disrepair the numbers dropped. As Matt O. took over and brought DisneyLAND back into it's glory the tourists returned, this time dressed a bit more casually.

I also think it's because California is a popular tourist spot for Asian visitors. Florida is more of a tourist trap for the US. I lived with a group of women from Hong Kong for a few months and they were pretty much obsessed with US culture, in particular California, Los Angeles, and Hollywood.

Or maybe they have memorized every brick of Tokyo DL & HK DL!

Maybe it's time for them to conquer DL- Cali.

Orange County, CA has the nation's largest Vietnamese population (about 150,000 people) and an estimated 500,000 Asian Americans (roughly 15% of the county's population).

So while there are a fair number of Japanese visitors at Disneyland, most people of Asian heritage you'll see there are local residents.

As a 30+ year SoCal resident of Asian descent who often visits DL (our family has annual passes) I can second the above comment, LOL!

OT, I know, but Mary from Mousesavers (aka FoodLover)....I have to say that we LOVE your website and appreciate all the discounts you've given us! You Rock!

Maybe, but the Asians are not the rude ones!
