No Fireworks?!?!

I guess we can chalk up one more confirmation of

Rule

If you want to be able to experience all of the rides and see all of the shows, visit DLR during high season and learn how to work with crowds. If you want to visit when it is least crowded, expect to miss some rides and shows.

You can't have it all. Not sure about anyone in this thread, but some people strive so hard to "avoid the crowds". Then when this kind of thing happens they are surprised. :confused3 In fact I have seen threads here on DIS from people who are "devastated" or that their trip was "ruined".

Oh well...hope you have a good trip otherwise. :wizard:

I just looked at a recent update at another site and they said that the fireworks will be available for holiday weekends.

It will be Remember fireworks which is awesome.

"Fireworks will return for Jan. 17-19 and Feb. 13-16 holiday weekends. The show will return to a regular schedule in March."

I would think with the extreme fire danger right now that fireworks should be out anyway.

I've never heard of them canceling fireworks because of "extreme fire danger". They cancel them when it's too windy, which it has been recently.

There will always be an extreme fire danger in Southern California at least until they fall off into the ocean and even then I wonder. :lmao:

Yes, we always seem to be having some sort of drought that the news is always droning on and on about. Then whenever we have a little rain the news is filled with urgent reports about how awful the rain is because it's causing mudslides! I guess we can't win.

Allow me to strongy encourage you to see Fantasmic! I am a fireworks fan. I love them. They are wonderful. Fantasmic! is the most unique, incredible show you will see at any theme park. It is amazing! It will not replace seeing a fireworks show if you love fireworks as much as it seems you do, but if you leave Disneyland without seeing it, you have done yourself a dis-service. It is truly a great show.

P.S. Welcome to DIS.

I agree. The F! at DLR is much better than the one at HS! Totally different feel to it. See it. You will love it! :thumbsup2

Just want to say I completely agree here. Nothing else...just ITA. Thanks for wording it so well. :thumbsup2

I'm thinking I will make an effort to see it. I do enjoy the song quite a bit and don't mind humming it to myself for the next 6 months.

Oh good. Please do! I really do hope you enjoy your trip regardless of the fireworks not being shown and lack of parades. DLR has so much to offer that I just hate to see people letting something ruin their experience :goodvibes

It could be worse. You could be one of those going during the summer to WDW and Space Mountain being closed for refurb. Not sure why they are waiting until April 19th to take the ride down, but it said it'll be down for months. Maybe so long that even if they'd closed it just after New Years it still wouldn't have been ready by summer?

Aren't they supposed to be redoing it? Or wanted to but people complained too much about it closing?? They did a great job with the refurb in DLR and it is sad that people stand in the way of them doing the same in WDW.

The Disney World Space Mountain is a pretty old ride and does need some TLC every now and then.

What did they do with the Disneyland Space Mountain? I hear that the two are very different. My cousin says I won't like the Disney World Space Mountain after riding the Disneyland one.

Well that may be true :rotfl: DL has a new smooooth ride, new soundtrack, new ride vehicles (They look similar to the old ones though) and it just feels new and exciting again. It isn't all jerky and the music is great. You really will enjoy it! I love space at MK too though, they are different and can't completely be compared. However if I had to choose one to ride it'd be DLR hands down! :thumbsup2

Music? :woohoo:

Yes I know, strange idea eh? :cool1: They have always had music, whether or not it was always playing well that's another story...

However the new soundtrack is more thrilling and it gives a lot of character to the ride. Now I know for sure you will not like space at MK once you have been spoiled by on ride music :lmao:

Maybe I should skip it. Then again it would be nice not to have to think about that long line at Disney World. I'll assume the wait times are ridiculous in Anaheim as well. Disney is at least consistent with that aspect of their parks.

Truth to tell I can barely tolerate Space Mtn at MK because it is so, so far behind the one at DL. On our WDW trip in 2008 we actually skipped it entirely even with two full days at MK.

Before the SM refurb at DL (completed in July 2005 BTW after 2 1/2 years of being down) I was not a huge fan of SM at DL. What they did with this refurb was transform the ride into a much better experience. The ride itself (the rollercoaster part) is the same. But the experience is light years better ;).

Yes, the SM lines are as long at DL as at MK. But I always get a SM FP first thing in the morning and then sometimes a second one mid-day.

Do not miss it!

Sure the lines are insane, but that's why they designed FP's. :) Just grab one first thing in the morning and you'll be good to go.

Why so surprised about the music? Does WDW's version not have music? I don't think I could do SM without the music......

Do not skip it! You will be missing out! Go and see what DLR has to offer and then go back to those WDW refurb haters and tell them that sacraficing a beloved attraction for two years is more than worth it!! :woohoo:
