So..I was just reading a certain email newsletter:rolleyes1 detailing the probable early ticket price increase, the advice to 'buy the no expire tix NOW' before they're gone for good.... I don't see why.:confused3
essentially,to ward off future hikes in price, but since the price of a 10 day MYW ticket is 605.00...that's 60.00 per day for entry. That's still substantially more than the cost of a basic 5 day ticket, which averages to 53.00 per day.(using newsletter code)
Why would 'stocking up' on the already too expensive ticket be a good idea? That No expire option ceased to be a good value years ago- so am I the only one who doesn't see the logic here? The Tix prices would have to rise so substantially in the next couple of years to make this a break even deal for me... Tell me if I'm all wrong, please!;) I think i'd have to hang onto these tix for years to even see a 'discount' for my upfront $$$ now.....

Guess it depends on how substantial the price increases are over the next few years.

I think it depends on how you do your vacations. Some people like to do 2-3 days in the parks and spend a day or 2 in the water parks. For others its the 4 main parks and nothing else. If you think this is the only time you'll go to Disney, then probably not a good investment to buy say the 10 day park hopper with water parks & more no expire. But if you know you'll be going every few years, it can add up!

The same group of Disney trip advisers, advises that if you're going to get No Expiry tickets to get them with 10 days and the Water Parks & More option added on, which costs around $696. This gives you up to 20 days of entry.
If you divide it out that way, it's only $35/entry to whichever option.

2 - 5 Day tickets with WP&M would cost $692, and you would only be able to use the admissions on that particular trip.

The combinations with these tickets are endless. Let's say a family takes a trip to Disney every year. They do 5 days in the regular parks and 2 days in a Water Park.
Trip 1: Use 5 days and 2 WP off No Expiry tickets ($696)
Trip 2: Use 5 days and 2 WP off No Expiry (no added ticket cost)
Trip 3: Buy 5 day ticket ($285) and 2 WP off No Expiry
Trip 4: Buy 5 day ticket ($285) and 2 WP off No Expiry
Trip 5: Buy 5 day ticket ($285) and 2 WP off No Expiry
Total: $1551

Trips 1-5: Buy 5 day tickets with WP&M option - $346x5=$1730

That's a savings of almost $200/person.

Basically, you're looking at costs in the long run, and it depends on your touring habits. Even if someone used all their regular park admissions in a single trip, they could potentially ration out their WP&M admissions out over the next 10.
Actually...Mousesavers has 10 day + PH + WP&M listed at $423 right now, which is a steal.
It is possible that the new Fastpass+ experience could be making it so it doesn't make since for people to "ration" tickets in that manner anymore though, which is why it would make sense for Disney to put them on "sale" so they can make money off them now, before discontinuing their convenience.

I stopped buying the 10-day no-expiry a couple of years ago when the cost of adding no-expiry skyrocketed. I still have a few left with a couple of days and a lot of the WPF&M options. I won't be buying additional no-expiry passes and I won't be adding WPF&M to any tickets for a long time to come!

The 10-day no-expiry was a great value at one time. We would get 3 visits out of them because we rarely went for more than 4 or 5 nights, skipping the parks on arrival and departure days.

Now it seems that the best deal would be the 5-day hopper, which is around $23 off the current gate price. I just don't feel the need to invest hundreds of dollars in Disney tickets right now in order to avoid another price increase, so I'm going to pass on making a purchase this time around. I'm also suspicious that Disney may change their very generous upgrade policy and buying the tickets with the biggest discount now will not be a benefit if they no longer bridge tickets before upgrading.

well,I've used some old passes off and on over the past 7 years.... but I had bought them back in the days when no expire was a great deal.... The only way I see pre-buying these as great deal,is if a multiple day pass brings the cost up past 60 per day...that might happen- I really won't miss it at all,the price to do no expire just isn't good enough......I'll take my chances and wait for a discount down the road:thumbsup2

I always assumed they were a good deal for someone out there and it's interesting to see how they were used in this thread. Any time I looked at the option it made no sense because of the way we use our tickets and they length of our vacations. We always try to make it a 10 day trip or so since we travel so far. In the end we never would have had more than a day or maybe 2 left so it wasn't worth it for us.
It made sense for people who were getting two full trips out of them though and it's just one more change in a string of huge changes that are hard for people to adjust to. There's just so much change on the way that it's leaving many questions right now.

LAst trip,we used some old passes ,all for our fam of 4, it was difficult. I had in the past just used whatever pass was in my hand, this time, my DH couldn't use one that ds must have used last time(2 years ago at least) - so we had to be careful who had which pass....that was a new one for us.... I still have old WP days on passes from many years ago that we can use in the future too:cool1:
I don't see a pass on mousesavers with no expire for 423.00.... with no expire it looked like 605.00 plus the WP&M feature total cost would be 684.00(?) so counting all the extras...maybe,but still nothing to miss....

I still have my old receipts from purchase....cost was approx 1200.00 for 4 10 day passes with WP&M option plus no expire....it was a GREAT deal...and we had been using them in bits and pieces since 2006/2007....I think I have one day left on my pass, plus a few waterpark days(my ds's are using the extras slowly at Disneyquest)

I was thinking about buying the 10 day no expire tickets. For the past 2 years, DH and I have cruised out of Port Canaveral. I REALLY wanted to go to Disney the day before our cruise left (we always fly down at least a day early). But I couldn't justify to myself buying a one day ticket to the parks! It really is a crazy price for one day tickets and I didn't think it was worth adding that cost on to the cost of our cruise. BUT, if I had some 10 day no expire tickets, i would have used a day on those.

We also have family in Tampa that we visit yearly. So using a day or two on the tickets while visiting them would be nice.

Although, I have decided against buying them i think. I don't want to lay out that much money ahead of time when everything is so up in the air with this MyMagic+ business. I'm afraid they will make everything tied to tickets on the wristband and make it hard to do that over multiple trips.

^^ This! It makes perfect sense if you add the WP&M option. If you don't think you would do the water parks then it probably does not make sense. I bought the 10-day NE passes a few years ago and added the WP&M option. We rarely travel during the warm weather months, but since we are DVC members I figure we will use the water parks 10 times in the next 50 years. ;)

Another reason we bought the 10-day NE passes we because we use to use a AAA rewards credit card and would get vouchers that could be applied to the tickets at the AAA office. Now that we have switched to the Disney Card, there is much less of a need to do this since we can use our rewards for anything at WDW.

Has the biggest impact on people who only want to use 1-3 days per trip and who don't make enough trips per year to justify an AP. People who live in Florida. People who take short trips. People who only want to visit Disney a couple of days per trip.

Not a big issue for most people who are going to need park tickets for at least 5 days per trip

I've been going back and forth on buying one more set of 4 non-expires (10 day park hop and WPM) - and if I had $2500 laying around I'd do it in a heartbeat, but right now I'm not sure.

We've gone through 2 sets of non-expires so far. With our upcoming trip in August we are doing Universal and WDW...So that means fewer days at WDW parks (likely 4 days main parks and 1 day water park). I also see a cruise or two in our future depending how things work out with the FP+ situation...And with a cruise, I won't go to the parks for 1 - 2 days because I refuse to pay $80 - $90 per day to go to WDW. Like a pp said...if you add in the WPM option - for 20 days of parks it comes to a very reasonable price per day.

As soon as I get our W2's I'll be doing our taxes - if we get any significant refund I think we'll buy a set (if there are any remaining at that time) - but we very rarely get a refund, so I am doubting this will happen.

We normally go 3/4 days every few years. So...a 10 day NE ticket bought back in 2007 (and used again in 2010)-- still had days on it to use this summer.

I'd have to go back and actually run the #'s to see how much we saved, but I'm guessing we came out well ahead by purchasing the NE tix 6 years ago -- vs buying a 3 or 4 day expiring tix for each visit.

This ticket is perfect for my touring needs. I will miss it when it is gone. I just used the last PH day in 11/2012 of my 10D NExp pass that I purchased in 6/2008. I have not used any of the plus days, but hope to use it someday. I purchased a 8 day NonExp pass when I was there in November. It works for me because we tend to go to the parks 1-2 days per trip, and do 3-4 parks per day, hitting the highlights for us. I have had some trips where I have been able to use special event tickets to supplement a visit. MNSSHP, MVMCP, and race event tickets that are discounted. I have been going to WDW about 2/year, sometimes I am lucky enough to get there 3x/year. A one day PH is so expensive, but I guess I will have to get that in the future if necessary. I wish I could take a 7-10 trip to the world, but it just doesn't work for me at this time.

It's the *water parks & more* that makes the non expiring tickets worth it for us. We only go to the water parks once or twice in 10 days. We have some now from several years ago that we will use for our next four years at least. We *aren't* going to buy anymore now - if they stop it, so be it

We get AP's now for the most part as we go more often, but only once when *we* are warm enough to enjoy a water park. :goodvibes

If I buy my 7 y/o son a child ticket and say we use only 1 day/year (like we usually do) that would put him at 17 when he would last use it. I thought I read somewhere that he could still use the "child" ticket because they would look back and see that it was bought back when he was a child. Is this true?

Does anyone know if you would be able to add on a no expiry to your tickets when you get there? If not I guess I'll have to make my vacation longer to use up all my days. I bought a 7 day pass in the hopes I would use 4 days now and the rest in a couple years.
