So in 2009 and 2010 we went to WDW at Easter. Both times the week of was blacked out. They did finally open up the black out dates but not until AFTER I had already paid in full (within the 45 day window). They gave me a credit back on my card.

I predict the same will happen this year. They are not going to decide until they see there booking number if they are going to open it up. I am prepared to pay full price if I have to, and I am hoping a discount it coming.

I hope there is something, eventually, but if not, I'll consider the price I got for my airline tickets the discount. A few days after I bought our tickets, prices went up $250 + per ticket and haven't come back down.

You may have more hope then usual, as a lot of the schools in the Northeast are talking about taking back spring break. If that happens I believe Disney will have to offer more discounts.

I love that way of thinking and hope it comes true. The one negative is that last Easter (2012) they never did open up any deals and instead opted to leave a lot of rooms empty. The good that came out of that decision was that we were upgraded at both of our resorts (WL and BC) due to all the empty rooms -- CM's at both resorts commented that it felt like a slow time for them rather than what was supposed to be a busy season.

Hopefully they learned from last year. Not everyone is willing to pay full rack peak rates. I really hope something opens up.

At least they gave you a credit back and it is good to know that they did that. I am prepared to pay full price too even though we are not arriving until April 5th. I too think that Disney is going to have to see reservations drop off before they discount. I wonder if many in the North east would cancel before their 45 day window if the schools cancel spring break due to missing so much because of Sandy. I know I would but some people will take the break regardless of what the school decides.

There is a good chance we will go the week before Easter if a good discount comes out for us. If not, we will just wait for our August trip. It will be the longest we've gone between trips since my oldest DD (11) was 2 but we are just fortunate to be able to go at all. If Disney doesn't do a pre-Easter discount I accept it, I just can't afford it:).
