As a member of DVC, it seems like everywhere you look you see “NO DVC DISCOUNT”. I am sure that this topic has come up before, but what the heck. Is there something we as DVC members should be doing to lobby for more discounts? Lets take Park Passes for example. Why is it that we only get a discount on the LOS passes? I am sure that most of us out there do not use them. Disney has offered discount on park passes to people in THE DISNEY CLUB. I think we have a little more invested in Disney then the members of THE DISNEY CLUB, which you can’t even join now. Would it be so bad if they gave us a 10% discount on Annual Passes? How about the golfers? I know that they have the golf program, but if you don’t play enough, it isn’t worth joining it. Would it kill them to give us a discount there as well if you only play once or twice?

Do you think an e-mail campaign to MS would help?

Just voicing my cheated frustrations,
Rob

Rob -

I agree but they seem to think they "have" a certain group no matter what. Not only don't I get DVC benefits in a lot of places, but about 8-10 years ago they cut all my stock holder benefits.

Guess they get me coming and going but hey, I just keep going back with a 12 year old smile on my face so why not!:p

DVC makes certain you understand that when you purchase DVC you are purchasing accomodations only.

That's okay with me, cuz Universal Studios is running an internet special of a 5 consecutive day hopper pass for $89.95, and I'm renting a car and I know my way there!:)

No need to e-mail member services, they've heard it before. It comes up in every annual DVC meeting. They are well aware the members would like more discounts, but they don't think discounts will increase their bottom line so they aren't giving them. DVC Resorts are selling out faster than they can build them, so they don't need to give any extra incentives.

DebbieB has hit the nail on the head. Basically, our "discounts" are incentives to spend money somewhere that is looking for customers i.e., restaurants. They are not "goodwill" thanks for buying into DVC discounts which is what a pass discount would be. Do I wish DVC would offer us a discount? Of course. Do I think it will happen anytime soon? No....that ship sailed when the original pass program ended in 1999.

Instead of asking member services for discounts, At the next member meeting, we should ask for additional bus services to Universal and be willing to pay extra dues to obtain there discounts. That would make them scratch there heads.

I second that DVCPAT.

What price for happiness?
Let's see. $2000-$4000 per year for expenses associated with several DVC trips. $19000 to join and add on twice. $1100 a year for dues....... For the.......

.....smile on my kids, my guests, my wifes and my face which are.... PRICELESS

Will a nominal feel good discount of %5 - %10 change those smiles for my family?

No.

Heck a %10 AP discount for 3 won't cover a meal at Tonys!

We pony up every time, take advantage of the discounts that are offered and consider ourselves blessed to be able to afford what we have. Many are not as fortunate.....spruce

We love Disney/DVC and we are fortunate to go often. I think its a mistake to think of a customer as a " Done Deal ". My family enjoys Disney and were getting exactly what we paid for and we will keep going back. The competition up the road is offering some great deals that are tempting. Disney should look at us as long term customers to keep satisfied, after all, Orlando is the vacation capital with alot of attractions trying to pry people away from the mouse.

Disney does not consider us a done deal with many of the discounts they offer us. The discounts are ment to encourage us to spend our money at places we may not go or do not use. We are offered a pass discount and if we owned just a week at DVC it would be a great discount. It's not as good as the Fla discount but I think Walt himself cut that deal when he wanted to develop in Fla.
If 64,000 families stopped going to the theme parks, we might then have an impact and a greater incentive to enter the parks would be offered. How much impact would those 64000 families have. My guess is that we would empty all the parks on a busy NYE. 1 days reciepts.
Why on black Friday do stores have doorbuster sales? To get you in the store when every store is having a sale. Disney target markets like this and offers discounts not to save us money but to get us in to spend more money. The most magical place on earth is a business, a capitalistic enterprise....Imagine that.
Oh and BTW, We spend less money now at WDW now that we own DVC then we did before we owned. Many of our costs to WDW are fixed by transportation and kennels. I can spend $1000 before even getting there...spruce
