No discount at Sanaa.

We had lunch at Sanaa a couple of weeks ago. Part of the choice was because they offer a 10% discount on food if you pay with your Disney VISA. We ended up eating in the lounge, and when we got the bill there was no discount. I asked about it and the bartender told me that the discount is only on food, and that the register at the lounge/bar doesn't allow them to give us the discount. I was pretty annoyed. It wasn't much, maybe $6 or so, but if they offer a discount on food at the restaurant, they should offer the discount regardless of where you sit, or put up signage saying "no discounts in the lounge." Even the manager was insistent- we ate in the lounge, so no discount.

Thats frustrating. I've noticed that the Disney Visa discount for dining also seems to be dwindling lately. Not as many places are giving you the discount compared to years before.

And in Disneyland, those places are far fewer.

We were told by a Disney employee that if the name of the establishment you are eating at has lounge in the name no discounts will be offered.

Interesting!
leebee, I'd be upset also. But it reminds me to double-check before the meal when I go tomorrow.

Laaaaaame. A 10% discount on just food at very select restaurants is a joke anyway. I mean, I'll take it, but it's largely ceremonial considering how much we AP-holders spend in the parks and resorts. I'd be upset.

If you look on the Disney website they are two different "locations" ...

Sanaa ~ which has a link to show discounts
Sanaa Lounge ~ which offers no links to discounts

I always check the Disney, Disney AP and Chase Visa Dining Discount locations lists. Sanaa Lounge is not on the website or discount lists.

Space 220 Lounge offers AP Discounts, as does some of the bars in Disney Springs.

That's interesting because I've always gotten my AP discount at the bar at Jiko, which goes by the name Cape Town Lounge and Wine Bar. I would think the rules would be the same for AP as for Visa discount.

We did a family trip to Disney last year. We booked a meal for the Hoop-dee-doo review. Our bill was around $800, so I wanted that discount. I called Disney to double check that we would get the discount. I was told that I would have to go to the outside ticket window and speak to a person there in order to get the discount. This is what I did, and I got the discount, but Disney sure doesn't make it easy. I am sure that a lot of people just assume that the discount will be applied to their check.

It has been like this forever. I last ate there in 2015 (DD was on DCP and wanted to try) and that is how we got our discount. With pre-paid meals it is the only way to verify the discount holder is dining with the group.

Just thinking out loud ...
- Cape Town is listed separate on WDW site but with no link to discounts
- Cape Town menu does not have any food
- Disney AP Discount does not cover alcohol

So if you had food it likely came via the restaurant, which does have AP discounts.

Sanaa on the website does show food on it's menu.

NOTE: Disney Visa and Disney AP do not have the same discounts or all the same locations.

That's interesting, and yes, I did order food, and it was from the restaurant menu. So that makes me wonder if @leebee ordered food from the lounge menu or food from the restaurant. Seems to me if they ordered food off the restaurant menu, they should have gotten the discount. The only food I see on the lounge menu are appetizers, and those do seem to be the same as the ones the restaurant serves. Anyway, just seemed odd to me that the lounge staff was so picky about the discount.
Also good to know that AP and Disney Visa discounts aren't necessarily the same.
Appreciate your insights!

We ordered the bread service and a potjie-inspired entree (one from the journey, one from the harvest, and rice). This is the first time I've ever been refused the VISA discount on food when eating in the lounge; there is never a problem at Steakhouse 71, Flying Fish, or Geyser Point.
