No dining plan if you stay on AP discount?

We wanted to try the DP on a one night stay but our room has the AP discount so it was denied (actually they said you need to buy park tickets?), anyway we then have 5 nights DVC so we may just go for it. I thought the DP was for AP holders.

You can get the Disney Dining Experience if you are an AP holder. Not the dining plan.

Your only option is to book it for your 5 night DVC stay.

We are doing something similar. We are staying in a Value Resort during high point DVC nights prior to checking in on Sunday. We got the dining plan on our DVC stay, so we will have it for 5 nights in DVC, for the other two nights, we just planned on cheaper meals.
