No Dining Plan at Big River Grille!!??

We are surprising our kids with a trip to WDW for Spring Break ... it's a Christmas present. We just decided to do this and even called in all our ADR's this week and got every place we wanted except for one. We were surprised to hear from a CM on the phone that we could not dine at Big RIVER GRILLE (Boardwalk) on the dining plan. They said it's not a Dining Plan restuarant. Which, the dining plan website says it still is. Has anyone else had this problem. We just picked another place, so it's not a big deal. I didn't feel like questioning them at 7am !! But I was just curious if anyone else has encountered this.

No, thats interesting, I was under the impression that Big River Grille was on the dining plan, when I mentioned making an ADR to the CM she said that I could not make an ADR but she never mentioned the BRG not being on the plan.

Anyone have a clue?

Maybe that is what the CM was trying to tell me. That I could not make an ADR. I might have assumed it was because I was on the dining plan there. I didn't even think they had a resort restaurant that you couldn't make an ADR at. Oh well ... thanks for your response!!

We ate at Big River in October- they ARE on the Dining Plan, and they DO take ADRs- just not through the Disney Dining line. You have to call the restaurant directly.

We read in one of the guidebooks (can't remember if it was UG or Passporter) that Big River only did day-of-dining ADRs, but that isn't true. We called them about 3 weeks before our trip, and got an ADR with no problem.

So, if you want to eat there, go ahead and call Big River for an ADR- they do take the Dining plan!! We thought the food was pretty good- and DH loved the beer!!

here was our experience with ADR at BRG, we did not plan to eat there, but as we were walking along the boardwalk, we decided to stop for an early dinner, they thought we were asking to make a reservation for a later time in the eveing and told us that they do not take same day ADR.

But after we told them we wanted to eat right away, it was about 4:45pm at the time, they explained they meant that they do not take ADR's for the same day for times after 6 pm, If you do not have an ADR already and ask for same day after 6 pm, you will be seated on a first come frist served basis.

Good Luck, I hope it is on the dinning plan, it has been in the past, as I love thier crab cakes, they are to die for.

We just ate there last Wednesday. We made the ADR as we were walking by around 4 PM. They do not accept the DDE card for sure, they said it's because they are not Disney owned. I also believe the waitress said they don't accept the dining plan either. That's what she thought we were talking about when we asked her about the DDE card. I don't know, maybe the restaurant does take the dining plan and she was just confused? I would call the restaurant directly and ask.
