No difference between Child & Adult Credits

Help I read somewhere once that the credits for Child and Adult are not separated/different so in essence a family of 2 adults 1 child could buy 3 adult meals at a quick service. I know this wouldn't work at table service but curious about it.

My cousin in going in August with her DH and DD who is 7 and eats like a 12 year old (just meals not much of a snacker) so the fast food kids meals just won't always cut it for her.

Thoughts? Or should I just tell my cousin that order the kids meal & a side...I know they will all get dessert as well. Just wondering about this?

Your milage may vary from CM to CM, however the policy is kids must get from the kids menu, however it is mostly on the honor system.

My opinion is that a company capable of building 7dmt, toy Story midway mania, and be our guest restaurant, as well as create the magic bands technology would easily track and split up the credits if they really wanted to. Of course, policy is policy and as a guest you are supposed to follow the rules.

Where is this policy stated? You mentioned different CM enforcement, so I'll certainly allow for different experiences (or maybe you're a CM yourself), but the ones I interacted with only said there's no distinction on CS credits.

The policy about 3-9 year olds ordering from the kids menu is in the dining plan brochure.

Ah, ok. Alright, well, not the first or last example of differences in policy vs enforcement.

My situation came up at the resort, trying to clear up a mistake. I was told the age doesn't matter, etc... but then again these CMs didn't work in the restaurants.

Most CMs park-wide will say the same thing. Why Disney continues to put it in the brochure and not enforce it is beyond me. But for those who still have Disney kiddos, I say you might as well take advantage of it while you can.

I'm planning to do BOG on my next trip for lunch and would have ordered off the kid menu if there was anything he'd eat, but he won't eat mutligrain bread and sweet potato wedges and that stuff so I am planning to order him a plain turkey on baguette with fries... all of which my son loves. Will probably order from kid menu most of the rest of the time.

The note about kids needing to order from the child's menu when available is a general note, it is not listed specifically under TS or QS. My guess is that having a kid pay $20 a day and be able to order a $32 steak and $8 dessert and $4 beverage is not going to happen... but having them order the $12.99 CS meal instead of the $7.99 kids meal is not something disney cares to worry about and enforce.

Yes that was the big thing my cousin DD won't eat some of the items listed on the kids menus. She won't be kicking back a full rack of ribs at Flame Tree but a kid's portion of mac & cheese might not cut it either. She just has a big appetite but like I said its only at meal time it's almost impossible to get her to snack so really its a blessing lol

Honestly I plan to go and do the best I can but if there is something my kid would prefer on the adult menu over the kid menu and disney doesn't care, that's what I'm going to order him.

I just looked at the brochure. In the QS section, it has a chart showing Adult and Child QS being tracked separately. This is incorrect- it's just not done that way. It easily could be done that way if they wanted to. For some reason they don't want to.

They track it separately for the TS meals, but don't for QS meals. Make of that what you will.

Like I said, I am sure it is some cost/benefit analysis. it is worth it to keep track at a TS but not at a CS. It may have to do with the way things are inputted at the various locations vs. just keeping track on the magic bands.

Another little wrinkle I ran into: Child QS breakfasts come with a "side" and a drink. Adults just get a drink. In putting a tray together I kept track of that. But I'm guessing that's also not given much thought by the CMs. Maybe they just look at what the entree is (an adult size or child size).

Where do you see that distinction? I don't see anything different about children and adult breakfasts in the brochure.

I don't see anything about children's breakfast coming with a "side."
Oh sorry- I read your post too quickly- I thought you just meant the Adult/Child credit distinction.

Yes, the "side" thing came from the CMs in the Sports food court. I asked for some clarification (from a roving CM) about drinks and that's what I was told. And sure enough, the cashier confirmed it.

Meals come as they are listed on the menu. If one includes a "side" and one does not, then that's how they count for dining credit purposes. There is not inherit different between the allocation.

Ok I didn't see any difference on the menu, but I may have missed it. Just passing along what they told me there.
