No dessert on any 2011 plan

I wouldn't be surpised if this was some sort of back peddling due to the complaints about the dessert not being offered? Or is that just wishful thinking....:rotfl:

Fair enough - it had to come sooner or later. I mean dessert twice a day is ridiculous! But the price is set to increase by a fair amoung (£6 on the DDP, £3 or so on the QSDP) and they have taken approximately £8 and £12 value away from the QS and DDP's respectively. So to break even with what you had, you need to find a way to "spend" and extra £11 pppd (QSDP) and £18 pppd (DDP). :scared1:Again, I refer specifically to those paying for the plan. If the new plans still save you money in that you don't need to spend anything/any more than you used to OOP, then Free Dining still makes sense. If not, I will pay for my food as I need it, as, I'm sure, will many others.

I reckon Garden Grocer is going to have to add a large fleet of delivery vehicles to cope with the demand of Disney guests. :rotfl:

I emailed Virgin about this as we have the free regular dining plan for our 2011 trip

Here is the response

'Thank you for your enquiry,

I have checked the brochure and the dining plan is as follows,

Disney Quick Service Dining Plan includes 2 quick service meals and 2
selected snacks.

Disney Dining Plan includes 1 Quick service meal, 1 waiter service meal
and 2 selected snacks.

Disney Deluxe Dining Plan includes 3 Quick Service or waiter service
meals, 2 selected snacks and 1 refillable resort Mug per person per
stay.

The dining plans have changed from last year.'

No mention of the dessert but I have asked for them to clairfy as dessert isn't mentioned at all in any of the brochures now

as you note, there is no mention of dessert..
if dessert is included, this plan is actually an improvement, since it includes two snacks per day rather than just one...

Hopefully it is the former. :thumbsup2
Disney never stop trying to screw the last cent from its guests
Just look how quick they reacted to stranded passengers during the recent
volcano incident :rotfl: It was damage limitation, just because the other parks had offered reduced / free entry.
I wonder if anyone has mentioned that Harry Potter is due to open soon!

Those replies from Disney and the travel agent look like the usual stock fob-off replies to me. The cat's been let out of the bag early via the travel agents and Disney don't want to admit before they officially post the new plans it is how I interpret it.

My personal take on the 2009/2010 type DDP is that for 3 meals a day it isn't enough as you'd have to stretch a snack and a CS meal over 2 of them. With us we made breakfast in the room at OKW then used the CS for lunch. This in many cases was too big and I'd be perfectly happy for them to drop the dessert from that.

The TS meals (dinner exclusively) were about the right size - I don't have a sweet tooth so would prefer an appetiser but can see why giving a choice in the matter would add time to table turnarounds. The rest of my family would miss the TS desserts, and I'd rather have one than nothing, and wouldn't pay OOP for one (but I'd occasionally pay for an appetiser).

So, for 2011, drop the CS dessert, add a snack - OK by me, drop the TS dessert and put the price up too - a bit naughty.

Well I'm glad that I didn't book in now for next year if this is the case then I'm agreeing with what many others and Wayne have said I have always stayed offsite but was dying to stay onsite and the main swing for me was SSR/OKW at 42% discount with free dining desert at a table service meal for us is always something I enjoy.

Like Wayne etc have pointed out the price that you are paying even with 42% discount is still quite high if the full benefits of the ddp can't be felt.

Think I may still try onsite but at somewhere like POP and now instead of not getting a car like we had planned on we will get a car and eat onsite a lot more there are a lot of great places to eat that we enjoy especially in the crossroads and LBV places like Golden Corral. Sorry Disney but I don't see how this is a good move and I don't think ive ever said that about them we will probably even see now about staying over at Universal Resort for a period for FOL passes especially with Harry Potter Land opening!

With Harry Potter Opening I thought Disney would be wanting to keep guests there more not putting people off!

I suspect a lot of people who will only stay onsite will be doing value resorts. This could result in them booking up quicker than usual. In the US the values still get the QSDP free during free dining.
