I'm sure that's a supply and demand thing. They just can't run ships through Alaska more than a few months out of the year. There's also a more limited number of places stop. They're straight up building islands in the Caribbean to stop at, but that's just not practical in Alaska.
I'm sure they have all sorts of data, and consumer feedback regarding what is better for their bottom line.
