No Concierge Contact

In about two weeks I will experience my FIRSt "taste" of Concierge service at Wilderness Lodge. I have stayed there numerous times, but never at Concierge Level. Needless to say I am very excited.

I booked my stay through Dreams Unlimited. I was asked if I would like to be contacted by the Lodge Concierge , and I YES , of course. So Dreams contacted Lodge Concierge, briefly introduced me, and offered my e-mail. This was about five days ago.

Well, unfortunately, I have heard NOTHING from Concierge. Today is the 5th and I arrive on the 19th. I have heard all these wonderful stories about planning packages that arrive ahead of time through the mail. More improtantly, personal contact from someone on the Coincierge staff. But nothing so far. Am I right to be disappointed a little ?

I hate to contact Dreams again and "remind" them that no one (as of yet) from Lodge Concierge has contacted. I got to thinking that perhaps they are very busy with guests already there and the big Easter season coming up. But I have heard so many good tales of near immediate Concierge contact to assist in trip planning.

I e-mailed Lodge Concierge recently to introduce myself (through an addrerss that Dreams offered me.) But, as of yet I have received absolutely no response.

When do I start to REALLY get "concerned" and initiate more contact on MY part.

Like I said, I am just disappointed as I thought this "attention" began some time before actual arrival on the scene. Am I being impatient ? Thus far, I must admit, I am NOT impressed. Would any of you be concerned if you were two weeks "out" from Concierge and have received no contact whatsoever with Concierge having your e-mail address for almost a week ?

You can call Disney central reservations and by giving them your reservation number, they will give you the phone number to the concierge office at your resort. While I have found emailing to be usually the most efficient way of contacting the concierges, you may want to call instead to obtain some reassurance that your priority seating, etc. are being handled correctly. HTH and have fun!

BambiTambi,
We are in the same fix--we arrive at AKL concierge on the 13th and although I called them once (they took our names, ages of children, and PS's I had already made), they have not initiated any contact whatsoever. Should I be concerned? Should I do anything? Help?

Hi DisMosie - We are arriving at the AKL concierge April 16-18.

I made the reservations at the beginning of February and I had to make the intial contact to the CL. They emailed me back with my answers but then I asked about the "concierge planning packet" that I have read some people recieved. - I thought I was missing out on some fun!! They told me that since I had contacted them I would not get the planning packet.

I'm excited about staying at the AKL concierge but the pre-planning of the trip seems hit or miss with the service. I know it will be a wonderful stay and I can't wait!!

MamaTink - I saw where we are going to be at the AKL about the same time. We are doing the Sunrise Safari on Sat. - April 17! Maybe we will see you in the lounge!!

Take care-
Jean

Cookielulu-
I'll see you there. I'll be the other one named Jeanne!!
One week till we leave!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Our usual resort stay is at the CR. Last year was the first time staying at the GF, main building concierge. They never did contact us before our arrival. Once we were there, they wanted to help us with anything we needed. This time we're staying back at the CR in july and was sent a few weeks ago, the welcome letter from the concierge staff. If you need anything before your arrival, I would just email the concierge staff and nicely tell them. Although, I normally make my own ressies before hand, it is nice to see that they expect your visit with a letter or a phone call.

I know I am "over-reacting." Really it is no major deal if Concierge does not contact me before I arrive. Really there is not anything I need done for me ahead of time anyhow---this is a solo trip. I really do not want to make many P.S.'s in advance because I want to remain very flexible. So it is not as though I have a thousand and one requests. It is just that when I read about everybody's else's rather prompt "welcome" (ahead of time), I wondered why none for me. But again, I do not want to "read anything" into this.

I really do not want to phone Concierge and call attention to myself. I really do not think this should be necessary. I may inform my rep from Dreams Unlimited, however. She contacted Concierge already of my stay, and I sent them an e-mail, also. So that is two contacts already, alone. I do not see why a phone call has "priority" over an e-mail.

I still have two weeks to go. Hopefully I WILL receive contact from them as there are a few special requests I have, although not many.

It is "comforting" to know that I am not alone and that others of you had to initiate contact yourself. I just did not expect this.

I will keep you all posted. Thanks everyone.

This is not the first time I've read about Concierge NOT contacting folks ahead of time. I wonder why this practice is so hit or miss with Disney - especially if it's a perk they promise.

We have had hit or miss success with the Concierge. One time they contact, next time they don't. This time I called them, just didn't want to be dissapointed with no contact.

I've never had a problem with concierge IPO contacting me.
But, I am the type that calls them as soon as I make a res.
And, if I have to leave a voice mail, they DO call within 24 hours.

It disturbs me to read about others not being contacted by concierge IPO's.

DH calls me the "squeeky wheel that always gets the grease"! ::yes::

My best suggestion is to make a little "noise", and remember to always be nice, about it.::yes::

MamaTink...I PMed you, too.

That is exactly what I have been wondering, also. Afterall, how much time does it take to send just a brief e-mail stating that more "detailed" contact is forth-coming. Like you said, why the "hit-or-miss?"

Concierge has already been contacted twice on my behalf, by e-mail----once by my Dreams Unlimited rep and once by me personally. One would think this would be enough.

I just am a little disappointed, that is all.

Its no wonder so many individuals offer these special gifts to Concierge staff. Evidently they get contact very early on, and repeated contact until arrival on the scene. But I guess some individuals book months and months in advance and have numerous requests of the Concierge staff. Whereas this is a solo trip for me and I have few "special needs" or requests.

Thanks, BambiTamby!
PS Love your story about promising your kids DW "someday". Faith and a little hard work can work wonders! We didn't get our kids to DW until the oldest was 17. This will be our third time in three years now and I think it is all the more swwt because we had to wait:yo-yo:

Aw, MamaTink! You are so sweet!

Yes, I've come a long way since being a single-parent on food stamps.

thank you!:wave2:

When do you guys get your planning packets? I read 120 days out in one post. Just wondering if I should e-mail the Poly if I don't hear from them by 100 days out or so. I never got a planning packet from AKL concierge, but I did e-mail them our PS and they e-mailed right back. They also called a few weeks before we got there to make sure if we needed anything else.
