Some people just don't know how to let the little things go. :sad2:

The dept manager on my floor (not my manager or dept) decided yesterday to take out the coffee pots from the kitchen on our floor because someone got the last cup and didn't make another pot. They had customers in yesterday morning and it was probably one of them who didn't remake the coffee. But it didn't matter.

This guy is such a bully. The division this dept works for is being sold and the people here will be out of jobs in a few months. Half of his staff has already found other jobs and left the co. You would think he would just stop worrying about trivial stuff such as he has to make coffee and worry about keeping the overworked people still here happy. :sad2: Now everyone that uses that kitchen (4 depts including mine) has to go to another floor for coffee.

Anybody else work with a controlling bully???

What a big baby! How miserable and petty do you have to be to do that???

I don't even know what to say. Who the heck does he think he is? I am surprised that there hasn't been a riot. I would never mess with Coffee Lovers :rotfl:

Seriously, though...can he really do that? It is like the bully on the playground not letting anyone else on the equipment. He has to have a superior that you all can file a complaint with.

How does he except anyone to respect him?

I will subscribe to this post, hoping you continue to give us updates.

Good Luck!

No, and I am grateful I dont work with anyone like that! What a big butthead, tell him to get a life!

I guess he can do that because he did. My boss is just letting it go. We have 3 other floors everyone is going to for coffee. His boss is in WA state so there is no one here to complain to. He thinks he gains respect by intimidation.

A funny thing today-- one of his salespeople (woman) came up to me and said Jerry must have been in the ladies restroom because the TP is gone!!! :rotfl2:

Did he remove the actual coffee machines or just the pots themselves? If it was me, and he just removed the pots, I'd go buy new pots. If he takes those as well, file a theft complain with HR.

ROFL! That was just stupid & childish on his part. Now that he has gotten rid of the coffee pots where is he going to get coffee from? I am guess that unless he has set one of the pots up in his office he has to go to another floor. Um...yeah, he really showed everyone how tough he is. Now they have to go to another floor & noone on your floor has to make any coffee! ;)

He removed all 3 pots as well as the stir things, cream, sugar, everything. Some people came in this morning with a thermos. It was rather comical.

Why, that is a great idea!

I say take it a step further! Next time the printer runs out of paper, take the printer away. When the copier runs out of toner, that goes too!

Yeah, great for employee productivity and efficiency.

"Where's SC Minnie? Oh she's upstairs getting coffee."

He's treating you like a bunch of children!

Wow, how childish.

It is an inconvinience to you to go to another floor, but coffee is still available to you. So unless he got rid of all those pots, what is he really proving? :confused3

Thankfully all the bosses at my office are very down to earth.

I'll tell you what, I would make my walk to another floor for coffee veeeeerrrrryyyyy slllooooowwwwlllllyyyyy. Hee hee. What an idiot.

I did have a boss once who told us we could only have coffee twice per day. He thought if we drank to much coffee we would waste to much time in the ladies room. Of course, he is also the boss who told us not to touch the mini blinds (cheapo brand) because we couldn't be trusted not to break them  .

OMG I think I would stone him.

I like the idea of bringing in your own pot and then reporting him to HR if he takes it. HR is really everyones boss...

HR is one of the dept that use this kitchen! My boss said he will wait it out a few days to let the bully make his point and if the coffee pots don't come back he will say something.

This is the same guy that is walking around to make sure all his people are there by 7:55. If you come in after that he considers you late.

I am soooo glad I don't work for this guy. :woohoo:

I think that guy needs exlax in his coffee.

I can't believe management is backing him on this. Sometimes you don't have time to make the next pot of coffee. Geez the horror.

I must confess, I am the office bully. I work in a small office - 1 receptionist, 3 secretaries (including me) and 5 attorneys. We had a regular Mr. Coffee maker in our breakroom that I never used (dunkin donuts for me), but the other three girls used it. However, no one would ever clean it out on Fridays. So by Monday it would be growing mold!! Our poor receptionist would always have to scrub it out on Monday mornings and after about 6 months or so she got fed up. Finally, I said "enough," and cleaned out the pot, put it in a box and stashed it in a filing cabinet. Neither of the other two girls ever asked what happened to it. The receptionist brought in a little 2-cup pot that she kept on her desk. It was just enough to fill her travel mug and once she made her cup, she cleaned it out for the next day.

Within a few months of the "pot snatching," both of the other girls moved on to other jobs and out came Mr. Coffee. We haven't had any cleaning problems since, and have even started buying Dunkin Donuts by the pound. Now everyone is happy!

Not saying what your idiot did was right, as there were way too many people impacted, not to mention there is a big difference between taking the last cup of coffee and leaving mold for someone else to clean up. But sometimes drastic measures are necessary.

Sounds like a very practical solutions.

At our office we have put up a sign by the coffe pot.

If you take the last cup of coffee
Be COURTEOUS
and make the next pot!

The closest thing to this that my company has done has been to demote someone, give her less responsibility and the same pay!!
They really showed her!

That's nuts. I can't imagine what he would do if someone forgot to replace the tiolet paper. My bosses lastest thing. He took the clock out of the lunch/lounge area because he didn't want us to go by that clock, we have to go to the office to see what time it is and go only by that clock.
