I hope to get some advice from others who may be sensitive to certain types of rides. I'm not sure what attractions I'm actually going to be able to ride on at US or IOA. I'm afraid of roller coasters (although I love Big Thunder Mtn Railroad). In general, I don't like motion simulators. However, I usually have no problem with Star Tours. Forget about spinning rides (no tea cups for me). What attractions will I be able to enjoy and tolerate? Which ones should I avoid?

At Universal they got you covered!!

At the Studios you got:
Jaws
Jimmy Nuetron-get a stationary seat
Shreck 4D-get a stationary seat
Simpsons--not as badas Star Wars of knocking you around
Twister--sesonal now
Horror Make Up Show
The Mummy--Way smoother then Thunder Mountain
Terminator
MIB--has some spinning nothing like The Tea Cups
Fear Factor Show--sesonal
BeatleJuice Show
Pretty much everything at the Studios!!:thumbsup2

Next up IOA..

IOA is alittle tougher.Give me time on this...

The Seuss High in the Sky Trolley Train Ride is the only one I can think of off the top of my head. Oh, and the Caro-Seuss-el. Pretty much all of Seuss Landing. Except Cat in the Hat

Ok, I'm a certified ride chicken and have inner ear issues so big coasters and anything that spins is out for me. Having said that, I can ride everything in US except Jimmy Neutron and the only things I skipped in IOA were Hulk, Dueling Dragons, Dr. Doom and the spinning things next to Hulk (think teacups - Storm something). I rode everything else and was fine, but I did have to close my eyes on the down part of Spiderman. I can't ride certain rides like the Mummy, Men in Black and the Flying Unicorn several times in a row, but I can ride then once in the morning and then once again in the afternoon.

I would not suggest the Simpson's ride. Although I have not ridden it yet, it uses the same vehicles for Back to the Future. DH was projectile hurling when he got off that ride. You might be OK, but I wouldn't risk it if you have some major motion sickness issues.

animal planet show at the studios is very entertaining.
it is a live show with animals.

there are other things to do at the studios than the rides and attractions.
if you are into picture taking, there are a lot of areas that are so kewl to take from.
some of the sites will reflect the Hollywood sign in the back of your photo.

the ambiance of each section is different as you walk thru.
new york park is very well done.

meet up with marilyn monroe, lucy and desi and the characters for the afternoon.

take it all in and you will have a full day at this park.

If you can handle Star Tours, which I think is the most vomit-inducing simulator I've ever been on, then you'll have no problem with either Jimmy Neutron or Spider-Man.

And if Thunder Mountain is okay by you, you'll survive the Mummy.

Have fun!

Enjoy them all and take Dramamine before you go.:goodvibes

DH can ride coasters all day with the Trans-Derm patch, but he was sick on BTF even with the patch. For years now, I have been blamed for "trying to kill him" by coaxing him on that ride. I would not want the same to happen to you unwillingly. Just giving a big warning.

My dh & ds (7) rode the Simpsons, and they both disliked it. My dh is a fan of thrill rides and motion doesn't bother him, but he said the ride was very rough & jerky. He was busy the entire ride trying to hang on to ds.

We used to deliberately take my DH on the spinny rides, like the Teacups where you spin it yourself to make it even spinnier. DH always said the same thing.:rotfl:

Pretty funny stuff right up until we knocked my DS's front teeth out when he was 2 because we had it going so fast.:lmao:

Luckily his permanent teeth weren't in yet and pretty soon when the braces are off, he'll have a beautiful smile again.:goodvibes

I had major problems with riding BTTF and Star Tours, but the Simpsons is OK for me ... I think it all depends on the person

Kelly,

Wow, I can't believe I got a response from you! :worship: I just finished reading your book yesterday. I found it to be very informative and helpful. My daughter decided she wants to go to IOA this trip. Even if I don't go on the coasters and some of the rides, there will still be plenty to do. While my daughter and husband are racing around the park and standing in lines, I can enjoy all the details and take some pictures.

just a tip here, a few years ago my daughter had spinal surgery and could not go on anything that bounced or twisted etc.. but i remember that we did the Simpsons in the non motion seats or area - it was much better and I think the cat in the hat, you can ask for the seat not to have motions and they stop it from spinning and turning... check your map as it mentions which rides have these options... it was WONDERFUL! and I volunteered to be with her ALL DAY LONG!!!! :thumbsup2

They no longer can stop the spinning on the Cat in the Hat ride.
All the seats for that ride are the same, they all spin, and turn.
