We are going to be visiting Universal for a few days at the end of this month. My mom and I haven't been since before IOA opened. What would be some good things to do that are newer? We don't do roller coasters or anything scary. I looked at the Universal site and most everything seemed like thrill rides in IOA. We'll be happy just walking around and exploring, but I'd hate not to ride anything.
Thanks!

You can do Shrek, Jimmy Neutron, Twister, Disaster, Men in Black, Simpsons, ET, Terminator and Horror Make up Show in USF as well as see Beetlejuice and Blues Brother shows. In IOA you can do Cat in the Hat, High in the Sky Suess Trolley Ride, tour the Jurassic Park Discovery Centre, see Poseidan's Fury and the Sinbard show as well as ride Spiderman.

All those are great suggestions. Why don't you want to try a coaster?

In Islands of Adventure (IOA) Spiderman definitely, not scary and it is just a ride that has a moving car that moves you to different rooms and movie sets, there are large screens that project 3-D film that interjects with some live sets and action. Great ride and not scary, no drops or anything. There is a simulated drop at the end but its just on screen (a movie) and you can even close your eyes on this if you get scared, because you don't really drop.

If you like boat rides the Jurassic Park River Adventure is one of my favorite, and sometimes I decide it is my favorite ride in all of IOA depending on what mood I'm in. :lmao: It is really cool for the most part you float down a peaceful river and animatronic dinosaurs are in the water beside you. THere is an 80 ft. drop at the end, but I think you can handle it, its not scary IMO.

Poiseidens Fury is a pretty cool show inside the Lost Continent area in IOA, just a show not a ride, you should be able to handle this no problem.

Suess Landing has some cute kiddie rides if you would like to experience what its like to live inside a Dr. Suess book, very cool area, and not scary at all, not thrill rides here.

There is a great log flume ride and raft boat ride in the Toon Lagoon area at IOA. You get extremely wet, but I don't think they are really "thrill" rides per say. The log ride does have a few drops but nothing major, but you may want to check this out before riding, it is probably the most thriller of these rides I've mentioned and may be iffie for you if you don't like drops and fast rides.

Plus all the rides the other poster mentioned at the main Universal park are great and not thrill rides.

IOA is a beautifully themed/landscaped park with 6 different lands/islands. So you can actually just walk around and eat, and soak up the scenery, (I do this all the time.) and you will not get bored just exploring. Its probably the best themed park in the world IMO.

Also, I would suggest if at all costs you can muster up some courage and ride the Mummy, it is a bit of a thrill ride (it gets fast at the end) but its not like a regular roller coaster (no big drops), and it is very cool. If you like dark rides (kind of like Haunted Mansion or POTC at Disney) it is very cool, a little scarier though, it is my favorite ride at the old Universal park I would highly recommend you doing this if you think you can do it.

I love Universal. For me its my GraceLand.I ride almost all the rides. With that said, you might like SeaWorld more. There is alot of shows that dont have explosions(Sinbad) and in the dark for 45mins(Posieden).Also no sim rides except for Artic Express, but it does have a walk thru side.

Unless you are set on Universal, then there isnt much to do on the IOA side which is beautifuly themed like other posters has stated. The Studios has more to offer for your taste.

I would never steer anyone away from Universal. But with the price of tixs the latter might be better for youse.IMO

Actually, I have been on quite a few coasters, but they are just not my cup of tea. I came off Rock N Roller Coaster green, but I tried it.

We have the free tickets from the Super Bowl, so, that's why we're going to go while we are down there. We did most of the things at the first Universal park when I was younger, so, I'm familiar with many things on that side although many have changed as well. However, I thought it would be nice to go and walk around. I'm hoping to catch a glimpse of the Harry Potter area as well. The one issue is we'll have to rent a car to get there for a day or two since we are staying on Disney property, so, that does add to the cost.

Not sure when you were there last but it sounds like there is probably very few things that haven't changed. Jaws and ET may be the only things that you have experienced.
