Hi all. Just back yesterday (or 3am this morning if you count the airline problems. : ( )from 10 nights at RPR. Anyway, I'll try to do a full trip report on the other board when I am in the right frame of mind but just wanted to share a couple of things first. I had gotten us an early flight and stayed overnight in Philly just so we'd be at RPR early to check-in for best room selection. Although I had booked club level and reconfirmed several times since February (I remember someone else's ressie being cancelled a while back on this board) at check-in I was told "no, you don't have club level listed" and "no, we're booked solid"....even after I showed my original confirm. paper and names/times of all people I'd talked to. After a few minutes of me not budging while not daring to look at my family sitting across the lobby, a manager was brought over. We finally got a club room.......allllll the way at the end of the "y" #3755, kind of a distant overlook of Luau, one room from the stairwell. We could've taken the second option he offered which was" stay Sun-Tues in one room, move until Thurs., and then move a 3rd time for the remainder of our trip. I opted to just stay put in our room far, far away. All of my long months of planning, requesting a view, etc. meant nothing in the end. On day 4 of stay, 35,000 Lutheran youth group converged on Orlando, several hundred staying at each of the US hotels as well as throughout Orlando. Very little control by the few chaperones there and moving "en masse" where ever they went. You really had to plan your elevator or moving around at all according to their schedule. They were just starting to check out when we did....after their 5 loooongg days there. I inquired about late check out the night before departure. I was told "no, it's only if available and we're booked" I walked away thinking I was mistaken until I located one of the Loew's brochures "Gold---guaranteed late check-out" so, back to the desk "ok, you can stay until 1pm....check back tomorrow between 6:30 and 7AM if you want to extend further". Soooo, next morning, yawning, back to the desk at 6:30am while family got to sleep in. "yes, you can have a 2pm checkout...sorry for the problem" I have the feeling the people are not trained with the same book. Also, just got off the phone between Discover Card Fraud Dept. and RPR. Seems we were charged TWICE for the 10 nights. "Gee, once was just a hold on the Acct. and really shouldn't have gone through....not sure how that happened" We also had problems when we had to do one of those charging priv. things in order to be able to watch a movie in the room.....again "someone new who doesn't know how to work the system" so $400 was actually added to our bill ($100 each for remainder of stay) instead of just being "held". We still had a good time despite the various snafus, but I just wanted to give you all a heads up on how things were handled down at RPR....totally different than last July. I'll put a trip report on the other board soon. By the way, I became Loew's Platinum in midtrip.......yea! I think?

hi

welcome back:wave2:

looking forward to your trip report!!

i'm sorry to hear about the problems at RPR

how did the club offerings compare to your last club visit? was housekeeping keeping things up?

i reccomend everybody go over their bill on the room TV daily or every other day- i found 2 mistakes and had them corrected immedietly-

hoping things got better with your vacation:sunny:

Sorry to hear of your RPR disappointments. It is indeed frustrating after planning so hard and making sure you cross all the Ts and dot the I's. That is usually when even my family turns on me like its my mistake. Large groups can kill a vacation. A group of them at, say, Shrek totally chokes it up.
I've had that late check out hassle at RPR as well. So what good is it being Platinum?
At least the parks were fun right?

Motherfletcher, we lucked out with the fotl during the day because the youth group had things scheduled all day offsite at the big convention center. They even had their own carnival rides set up there. The parks were a blast! We were able to do everything we wanted and our cards were only scanned once or twice the whole time. The new policy didn't make that big of difference to us.
Bratray, the club lounge seemed to be the same as last year except they now keep the beer/wine behind the desk. Guess too many people were walking away w/too much. They were very helpful by checking flight status and printing boarding passes for all of our flights. Housekeeping was pretty good. They even made up my son's airbed most of the time. We had trouble getting them to pick up the tip for the first few days. DH finally told them "This is where we leave $ for you" Too much junk in the room I guess! lol We ordered room service once---just because the kids had never experienced it. The man that brought the table up was not the friendliest in the world, but the kids got a kick out of watching him unfold the table, lay the silverware, etc., then pull containers of food from underneath like a magician! Club Level was like an oasis away from the orange backpacks.....kinda nice;)

I am a Lowes Gold and was told that you will only get an upgrade and/or late check out if available. It seems most of the time they aren't available

A Mickeyfan, it says right in the Loew's brochure that both Gold and Platinum have "guaranteed late checkout"....Blue is the only one listed as "if available". ........of course the little fine print probably covers that too
