No Characters at the Liberty Tree????

OK I just read on Deb's All Ears site that they no longer have the characters at Liberty Tree.... WHY!!!!!!! I booked specifically becuase of the character experince with the kids and well there aren't that many choices for a good sit down in the MK. WE had a very hard time getting reservations so as it is becuase of the free dining offer and now I found this out... Very disappointed... Is it absolutly true????

Unfortunately it's been character-less for a while now. Sorry!!

Yes, it is true. It has been "character free" since early January 2009.

I am so disappointed... I really hope that this trip works out to be a good time... I am getting aggrivated that I cannot get anything that I want for meals... Couldn't get Chef Mickey's for any of the 7 days, Ohana either... Now I just found this out!!!!!!

I think they said something about budget concerns, but who knows, that doesn't really make sense. There have also been rumors SINCE they took them away that they may come back at some point. Unfortunately no news on that!

I do hope you will take the opportunity to try some new places that you hadn't really considered before. You might find some new favorites!!!!! And I'M SURE this trip will work out to be a good time. You'll be at Disney with your family!! Don't let a few reservations you're not able to get ruin the fun and magic for you! I'm sure it's frustrating, but your trip will be as much fun as YOU make it, ADRs aside!

Who knows? I guess they figured they could get enough people on the dining plans to eat there without having to pay for characters. They still serve the same so-so (IMO) food & charge the same price for it; just no more characters.

Personally, I think it stinks big time. When I could see Chip & Dale, I would tolerate the food and the expense. Now that they are gone, I have no intention of darkening LTT's door again. There are plenty of other places on property where I can meet characters and have better food.

you didn't like LTT but it's one of our favorites. I understand wanting to see characters but we actually like LTT, characters or not. There are many places to see characters especially in MK. I never felt like I HAD to eat with them too!

The characters have been gone since Jan 4,2009..Disney isn't saying why they cut them.Rumors ( started by Jim Hill who is about as accurate as a gypsy at a county fair)had that they would be back in Sept...No word on that

We loved it as a character meal last summer. It was the first dinner of our trip and nice not to have to get up and go to a buffet. We thought the food was good, but not special enough to return without the characters. My boys love the classic characters and DH and I both love Chip & Dale (as it turned out so did the boys), so it was special for us for this reason. There is better food at WDW non-character restaurants so LTT is out for us. We would only consider returning if the characters returned as well.

I have been to LTT with and without characters. I'll be the loner here. . .I enjoyed it more without the characters.

Character dining has made me a little gun shy. Those meals always seem hectic. I need mealtimes to rest, not to take 4 million pictures and make sure my kids have all of their autograph books. Just MHO.

1) Many people wanted a TS in MK that wasn't a character meal.
. . . folks wanted a quieter place to eat, without kids yelling
. . . folks wanted a place without kids running about
. . . folks wanted a place without interruptions by characters
2) Characters are very, very costly, so this was a cost savings. *

* Even if the restaurant isn't full, the labor savings out weigh the lost revenue. Plus, with DDP, they don't need gimmicks to bring in people. Folks want to pig out on DDP, so they accept any meal - regardless of attractions, gimmicks or quality.
