No Character Meals for Boys at MK

I've taken my brother to 1900 PF on every trip since 2005 (he's 11 now--and we've done more than a few trips between now and then).

We did breakfast at 1900 Park Fair and CRT when DS was little and didn't have a say in the matter. He'll be almost 11 when we go in December and he's a bit more vocal about it now. Absolutely REFUSES to go eat with the princesses. SIGH...

I'm thinking about either Ohana's or Chef Mickey's for breakfast. We haven't been to either one.

BTW...he is severely allergic to ALL dairy products and we would need to make sure there is plenty of variety for him.

Decisions...decisions...

I've been to a few Character breakfast and the Ohana (polynesian resort) was by far the best. The food was good and my nephews and nieces had a great time. Cape May Cafe (beach Club) had a good one but I don't know if they still have it been a few years since we went to that one and I don't choose where the character breakfast is at I just follow along lol but i believe the Cape May had Micky, Mini, Goofy, Donald and Pluto all the main characters.

I agree the 'Ohana Stitch breakfast is great! I dragged DS (12 at the time) to 1900 Park Fare for breakfast and he ended up loving the Mad Hatter. He was an absolute riot. Pooh & Tigger were there as well along with Alice and Mary Poppins.

We took DS to CRT for lunch when he was 8. He said he was only going because I wanted to eat in the Castle. He ended up enjoying himself. The princesses made such a fuss over him. Snow White actually sat down & talked about his first plane ride because she had never been on a plane. It was really fun.

Course this year he will be almost 14 and once again Mom wants to eat in the Castle. We are doing dinner so it is a little less 'princess-y'. DH and I will get the pic with Cinderella!

Ya your 14yo might tell you he doesn't want to go but I bet he's really looking forward to it but doesn't want you to know that  :rolleyes1 lol

Thanks for the thoughts, but I think Ohana will not work for us. He doesn't know Stitch plus he is allergic to eggs and milk. Breakfast isn't good for us more than one time I think.

Was hoping for a character dinner. There are so many other good restaurants at Epcot to eat at so don't think Garden Grill.

MK area is my concern. Maybe we will try Hoop de due instead. I like it, just not sure if the newly 3 year old will.

Thanks again for all the thoughts, it helped me think through this. Worried that Oct. 27th will come and I will still be deciding while making my ADR's.

Have you stopped by the DisAbilities board? Lots of folks there are very experienced w/ food allergies. General concensus has been that WDW handles food allergies pretty well with advance notice. Quite usually the chef will come out to the table to discuss what is and isn't acceptable & can custom make something safe for your son to eat. So if you want to have the character breakfast experience there, don't let allergies stand in your way.

You should have a dining CM note in all your ADRs your son's allergies, and remind the host/hostess upon check in. At every restaraunt you should be able to speak to a chef & know for certain what is & isn't safe for your son.

Don't know if it's been mentioned but Swan & Dolphin have character dinners with Goofy & Pluto ++. Their buffet is very good.
