No Character Dining for Liberty Tavern in 2009

I have heard that Liberty Tree Tavern will no longer be offering character dining. Now I don't know about anyone else but, my family only eats here for the character dining - it sure is not for the food. To me this is the best place to see Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Chip and Dale. The characters always spend time with my son at the table (they are never in a hurry) plus, they come around numerous times throughout the dinner. My feelings are so hurt over this change - this is the only restaurant we eat at in Magic Kingdom. Does anyone else feel the same or is my family alone on this issue? Does anyone have an idea on why they would be doing away with the character dining?

Anyway, I guess we will enjoy our last supper with the Liberty Tree Tavern Characters in September! This is so sad! Anyone have other ideas for our future character dining experiences? (My son doesn't like princesses or Pooh)
:sad1:

Don't have any idea why this decision was made. Someone started a petition here to save it (doubt it will work, but hey, doesn't hurt to try, right?). You can still see Minnie, Goofy, Chip & Dale at breakfast at Cape May at the Beach Club.

I didn´t know about this!!! I am really sad, because we loved it there for Character Meals. We are not going until 2009 so I guess our last one was - the last one for us. Why are they making this desicion??? It apperas they are moving more Character Meals out of the Parks and moving them to the Resorts - or is that just my impression?? I am really sad:confused:

I hate to see the character dinner go, but I would like to suggest that you try lunch sometime. The menu is really good, and we have enjoyed our meals there. Does not help you out for the characters, but it is still a great place for a meal.

Oh no! That was going to be a consideration for our April 09 trip! Guess we'll have to scrap that idea. Kind of silly to NOT have a character dining with Mickey in the Magic Kingdom...

I am so happy we have ADRs for Sept. I know the food isn't known to be the greatest, but we are excited to do dinner with Minnie, etc. (We have done Cape May in the past as well).

It is sad, though.

My husband and son enjoy the food here but like I said we mainly went because of the characters. This is the best restaurant for traditional characters and they take their time with the children. I've been in some where it felt like the characters were rushed through but this was never the case here at LTT. I am really disappointed! This was a tradition for our family to dine for dinner at LTT. But we will enjoy it in September and figure out something new for the future.

Someone mentioned Cape May? Is it difficult to get Disney transportation from one resort to another for dining?

Bummer!!! We went there during MNSSHP last year for dinner, and it was great to dine with the characters. The kids liked their food too. Oh well, guess it will be Chef Mickeys only for us whenever we take our next trip(Chef Mickey's is ALWAYS on our itinerary whenever we go, but last time we did both).

For those of you wanting to eat with mickey on your MK day, just go to Chef Mickeys at CR. It's just a 5-10 minute walk, and it's super cool to eat with mickey while the monorail goes through the hotel. You know, the lunch food at LTT is awesome and I'm actually hoping they have an expanded lunch menu for dinner once the character meal is gone. I do feel sorry for those of you that enjoyed the character meal, though. If Chef Mickeys doesn't work, maybe go to Garden Grill in Epcot or else Cape May breakfast at BC.

I'm going for character dinner for first time at Liberty this Sept. I remember Liberty going thru various changes. When I first went LONG time ago - the food offerings were so-so, then years later we tried it for lunch and it was great - then they added character dining - and now another change. Restaurants change up often I feel at Disney - it helps keeps things fresh.

Who knows, there may be another character dining experience added in place of Liberty...

This really stinks. I feel LTT is one of the best character meals around.

If you have reservations at Cape May you could always go to EPCOT that day and then walk to the International Gate Way (between England and France) and walk to the Beach Club for your meal. You can also go to the Boardwalk while you're there. :)

IMHO - Cape May is a bit of a pain to get to if you are not already in Epcot since it is a long walk from the front gates, out the back, and then to BC. Your best bets would probably be to take a bus from your resort to DHS and then a boat to BC or to take a cab. Some people have also reported buses from their resorts to character meals that are before park opening. Not sure about Cape May.

The kids and I are bummed about this meal. We are on a mission to try all the character meals and this one was on our list for next year. DS9 was especially excited about it since he just finished learning about the Revolution in school. :sad2:

I know you guys are going to hate me... But I am happy if this is true. I have seen atleast a few good restaurants at Disney turned into character meals for triple the price and by doing so ruling that location out. I love Liberty Tree Tavern, so it will be nice to eat there again at other times then lunch.

We have ADR's here before MNSSHP so I'll be glad to do it once. That said, I am excited because the lunch food always gets good reviews on the Restaurants board while the dinner doesn't.

Do you really think they'll lower the price? I didn't think Disney ever lowered a price ;)
