No cars available?

I just checked National & Alamo at the Dolphin and the Disney Car Care Center for a one-way rental on October 7, and there are no cars available? I even went back a couple of days...and nothing? Anyone know why? Is this a glitch of some sort?

I know that I have 135 days to go...things will open up, but I thought it was very strange!

That's Columbus Day weekend, possibly the reason. I don't think they keep a big inventory of cars at those locations.

I thought about--the holiday weekend...but to have absolutely no cars, at either place? almost 5 months out?

I can always book ME for the trip back to the airport, that isn't a problem I only really want to have the car when we arrive, to hit Publix & the outlets.

There is also an Alamo desk at the Wyndham Palace across from DD.

Yesterday I booked a one way with Alamo from the CCC to MCO for Memorial weekend (in just 9 days!! ) and I was able to reserve a car without a problem. Doesn't make sense that I was able to reserve a car last minute for a holiday weekend and you can't make one for October...might want to give them a call!! Where are you dropping the car off? Maybe that's the problem??

Don't give up, keep trying.
I would check every so often to see if my Mem. weekend had gone down and it was showing up "no cars available" till yesterday, not only were there cars, but the rate went down by $27.

IMO, they block out a lot of cars for 1 week or more rentals during that time.

When I first tried to book a car (back in February) for October 7-10, they were showing no cars available. I then tried booking for 7 days (Oct 7-14) and low and behold they had cars available.

As the time gets shorter, I believe they free up some cars if they are not being rented for a week, because I was able to book my Oct dates in April. As of the beginning of May, they were again showing no cars available.

So, my point is, keep trying, they will free up more cars as the time gets close.

I think the time period is very busy. You have Columbus Day weekend and the Funai Golf Classic. A friend of mine is going at the same time and needed to add another night to his reservation. He has been calling for several weeks now and each time has been told there is nothing available. If the resorts are that crowded, I can see how it would carry over to the rental cars especially those on property.

I use Hertz. With them some locations don't offer one way rentals. They have cars assigned to the location and want them back.

Call reservation to confirm this.
