??No Captain/Family boating plan!!!

I called the bike barn today at Fort Wilderness inquiring about the Captain's boating plan. We are staying in a cabin April 30-May8. He informed me that he could not accomodate either the family plan or the captain's plan because they were upgrading their boats and "if we had eight people who wanted to use the boats all at the same time, there would not be any available for any other resort guests". ?? I am thinking that is why people opt for that plan in the first place. To ensure availability, as well as the significant cost savings. I was actually shocked at his tone of voice, it was a bit snyde. I mentioned that on Tuesday night of this week, the reservation person is who informed me that this plan was an option. He stated it stopped two weeks ago.
I am upset about this! My DH and DS are staying a week in the cabins, instead of OKW so that DH and DS could have this boating option and also the access to fishing. We were planning on going to the parks for only two days, all the other time was for recreation and relaxation. I got my DH to buy in to this trip partially with that boating option. Now what should I do?

Oh no! We just decided to do this. For one of DH's Christmas gifts I was going to spring for a bass fishing excursion but he said he would prefer to spend the money on the Captians boat plan. We planned on using the different boats alot this trip. This wil put a definite damper on things

Maybe you could write a letter to disney. Perhaps they could offer you the plan at the wilderness lodge. Good luck.

I can understand the boat plan being a problem if there is not enough boats but what about the Captains plan? It was a set number of hours. How about a family plan that was so many hours per day per person. An hour a day would be fine with us. Maybe just a set number of hours per person.

I was told by a cm that they do offer boat riding asa "Wishe" in your reservation packages. This will not work for us since we are DVC members.

Is there any chance the man at the bike barn was wrong? We rented the water mice at the marina, and it seemed like they had plenty of boats there. Maybe by April they will have finished upgrading their boats. I certainly wouldn't give up on the plan without checking further.

This was posted on the DVC Board. Due to the change over to new boats, there is no longer a bike and boat plan. Personally I'm upset, but if we al write the powers in charge, maybe we'll get it back. Supposedly, the change over to the new boats is phased in, and not all the boats are delivered as of yet, so boats are in short supply.
