Does anyone know the number to register your cell phone for a no call list? I got one in an e mail forwarded from a friend but I do not know if it is correct. Is there an official site that I could go to to verify the number. I already got a text from some company that I just opened and deleted and it cost me 9.99! THANKS

I used the regular no call list - donotcall.gov. I have not had a problem with sales calls on my cell but I do not believe that will block unwanted texts. My DS gets them once in a while. But when he does get one, he will tell me, I call Verizon (our provider) and they have always taken the charge off.

If you get an unsolicited text, Verizon has told me to text "STOP" back to them. That has worked for us.

So call your provider and explain what happened. Don't just pay that $9.99!

Texts unfortunately are not covered under the Do Not Call act. That said, I'm confused on how you were charged for a $9.99 text. If you get an inbound text for a service and you respond (in the manner described), you could subscribe to a service. The other is a service you send a text first to and then it responds confirming you agreed to the service.

Either case, if you do not want the service, just call your carrier, explain what it is you received and they should take care of it for you.

I don't understand either and that is what Verizon said. But to be honest and I am a little embarrassed....I don't text! I can open and read them but am hard pressed to text a message back. When I see a message with a name I don't know I ignore but this one had numbers for a "sender" I thought it was one of those pain in the a verizon texts, I opened it and then before you know it my husband looked at the bill and I was charged.
