Everyone,

I previously asked when the next BWV rehab is taking place and no one seemed to know the answer. So I emailed MS. Here is the response:

Thank you for contacting Member Services.

As of right now we do not have any refurbishments scheduled at this time.

Let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Have a Disney Day,
Nikki

So when can we look forward to getting rid of those beaten-up sofas and rusted out appliances?

BWV opened in summer 1996, I would expect rehab to start in the 10 to 12 year timeframe. Maybe they are waiting until after the big 50th celebration because of high occupancy even at the regular WDW resorts.

Chuck,

I thought someone had told me they do it every 5 years. Since the last big rehab was done in 2001, I thought maybe the next was scheduled for 2006.

Major rehabs, new appliances, new beds/sofas etc, seem to be on a 10 to 12 year cycle. OKW had appliances and most sleeper sofas replaced a couple of years ago, it opened in late 1991. Minor rehabs like paint, carpet if necessary, general spruce ups and deep cleanings seem to be about every 5 years.

I don't know if replacing sofas would be considered a "refurbishment" that they would have on the schedule since it alone would not take rooms out of service. The 1 bedroom I had last December had the new style sofa.

Ummm.. having never stayed at BWV... is it really that bleak? Rusted out appliances?

The unit we had had a fridge with rust all over the door, and a little rust on the bottom of the stove. The stove itself had elements that did not fit on it and would not stay in the slot. So every time I put a pan on it it would tilt to the side. Not very safe for boiling water.

Well, it could depend on the supplier, and when they can fill orders the size DVC would require. It may be that the supply of new sofa sleepers just coincided with the OKW appliance rehab.

Wow! We just got back from BWV on Ocotber 29th and we had a lovely room...#5008. It was in good repair, the furniture was fine, the appliances were great. I was very pleased.

We went in mid October as well, and didn't find the room in a sorry state at all. No need to refurb the room we were in.

We stayed in room 2085- right off the lobby and found the room great. The only downside as far as the condition of the room was the arm of the sofa. It was quite dirty and that grosses me out a little. So I put a sheet over it and forgot about it.

Our sofa in 3005 was in deplorable condition. We almost called to have it taken out. the arm of the sofa was ripped, cushions had brown stains on them on both sides. When we finally did get it pulled out, we found out why it was so hard, the entire frame was bowed and bent. We weren't sure if it would go back in or not but it did. took two people to sit on it to get it down into place again. I was surprised there were no pillows on the sofa or bed. Has it always been this way there? I own at OKW and hardly ever stay at BWV, i think this was my second time.

I just returned from BWV last week and they were replacing the king sized mattresses on the 5th floor. It was very comfortable - loved it. The pull out sofa was another story...

I'd really love to see a full room renovation project. The question is, how long will we have to wait for that? I definetly think the sofa beds need replaced, as all 4 sofabeds we had last year were looking pretty bad.
