OK ... I'm going to give it a try again. I signed up last month and bombed by Aug 2 !! Now we are at Sept 2 and I haven't spent a dime...

DDs brought Spirit day Tshirt and shorts order forms from school ... and school pics will be coming soon ... etc ... so we'll see how Sept goes.

Sept 2 $0

Count me in! I have tried this one other month and bombed miserably, but effective 9/1/09, our family is on a strict one year budget with a plan to save a hefty sum. I am not going to lay out all of my categories here like others do, because I have a budget spreadsheet I am tracking all income/expenses and savings on. But, I sure would like to come here for support, and for accountability so that I stick to my budget categories. The goal in our household is to save enough money in the next year to: 1) take a three week vacation to Hawaii next summer, 2) put 10K down on a new vehicle, 3) complete some construction work on our front porch and 4) finish landscaping our front yard. So, I guess my "no buy" commitment is really to save a specific amount this month. I hope it is okay that I am altering the "no bouy" concept to meet my situation.

That's the beauty of this group. All of the support, none of the flames!

Holy cow, was spending this summer out of control! Well, I am back! Let's hope - no, this WILL -be a successful month.

I have started a little out of my normal by making 2 small runs to the grocery store, but trying to stay under the $160 mark for groceries. Once school starts next week, I am aiming for many more $0 days.so here we goooooo...

So I'm 439.50 over my goal for a really frugal month, $189.50 over where I wanted to be, but most importantly $60.50 under the MUST STOP HERE!!! threshhold. So all in all, not bad for my first month back on track! And, I got some Christmas shopping done, and a few unplanned kid birthday gifts purchased.

I need this too. DH retired this year and now we are reallyyyy on a budget. I'm going to start trying better with the daily spending

BUDGET
Groceries - 9/300
Other (clothes, diapers, etc) - 0/150
Dining Out - 0/110
Gas/Parking - 0/130 (this amount based on work paying my parking this month, there is a small chance they won't, then I'll need to raise budget)
My Fun Money - 11/50

EXCEPTIONS
* Fun Money - $50 each for DH & I. I'll just track mine here so I can remember how much I have.
* Sister's Birthday - $75
* Baby gift for friend - $40
* Photo Software - $260 - We put this off from last month, but photography is too important to us to keep using the free software we have. Last week we had another glitch that lost 100 photos, even though we back up everything. Photo is our main hobby (other than traveling to Disney - HA!) and we don't take DD to get her pictures done - we do them ourselves.
* Passport - something else I put off from last month

9/1-$0:thumbsup2
9/2-$1 from Anniversary budget + $60 for Early Bird Check in for Southwest flights:furious:

Yeah, I just thought I was done for the day. *warning: rant coming* Really, I overpaid for my airfare this year. We wanted a super easy airport, so we're going out of Austin. We wanted non-stop flights and to control our times. I was comfortable that I would be able to check in right at the 24 hour mark both ways, so I didn't worry about the land grab for seats together. I paid $150 more for our Southwest tickets than I have ever paid for roundtrip to MCO or SNA, but I always bid since we have so many big airports within 2 1/2 hours, therefore give up a lot of control. Now, I paniced that everyone will Early Bird and paid the ante of $60. :sad1:

OK, rant over... silver lining, silver lining... oh yeah, I no longer have to watch the clock on our last day to get boarding passes. There, found one.:goodvibes

And now back to our regularly scheduled broadcast!:surfweb:

These books sound great. Would they be too hard for a 7 year old in 2nd grade? I would like to get them for my niece.

My son is almost 7 going to grade 2. He loves the Captain Underpants series and the Pokemon chapter books. I plan to start him on the Zac Power series and the Encyclopedia Brown series soon. The Junie B Jones series is hugely popular with grade 2 girls. If she doesn't have any, you may want to try those.

I LOVE to declutter, clutter makes her happy, it's going to be like matter meeting anti-matter: "Throw it out," "no it's still good!" "Who cares, throw it out anyway!"

Oh my, can you come to my house?! I seriously have little piles everywhere. I try to dig out and in a week the piles are back. Its driving me crazy! And our walk in closet looks like someone opened a suitcase and let everything fly....

Hi, Fellow "No-Buyers!"

(Although at this point I only think I qualify for shopping accountability...:scared1:)

Today will be a killer for me - DH said to go to Macy's for bras (better quality than Kohl's, but also more expensive) and I'm fabric shopping for a sink skirt (gotta' put those jumbo packs of TP from Costco somewhere) for the bathroom.

Hoping no more 10.00/yard (Need 2) on the fabric, but bras and britches? Could be anywhere from 60 -to WAY too much.

(These are both quasi-budgeted in our brand new budget, but I'm just working the whole thing out there....at least DH and I discussed the expendatures and agreed to them...he is really impressed with my work on Mint, my bringing my lunch, etc - he seems to be getting on board - yay! He may even be learning this dis-boards are good for something...:rolleyes1)

I have the day off (hence the shopathon) and also have to watch out for food, drink out - so I'm trying to make sure I eat before I go, etc. AND I'm going to the Macy's downtown - no mall to lure me into - I'm on a mission for undergarments that fit, and that is it! (Please, pray for me!)

Have a great day!

Mrs. Spratt

Sept 1: $0
Sept 2: $53 between Gymboree and Walgreens

Have to go to Target today for dog food, laundry detergent, and lens cleanser. Fun.

Mrs.Spratt - I loved to buy my bras at Marshall Field's (now its a Macy's) because they had employees (women) who knew how to fit you and some one would work with you and makes sure you get the rights ones. Yes, I spent a little more but it is amazing what the correct bra can do for you.

Well yesterday was great, but today I'm stopping by the mall to hit the labor sales before everyone else.

9/1: $42.61 - Subway lunch, groceries, and a birthday gift
9/2: $0!

I paid my tennis dues this morning (exempted) and was battered to a pulp by the tennis pro for two hours, along with the rest of my team. I only exercise if Lady Gaga is on (zumba) or a crazy french/haitian coach is threatening me with his racket, lol...

Then I watched the show "Hoarders" and immediately went down to the basement and cleaned up/out my terrible cluttered craft room. I can see the sewing machine again. And the floor. And it didn't cost me a dime! :) It took THREE hours and I'm still not completely done. Threw out three large bags of trash. I did find the 'o3 taxes, though.

Downside is from sitting on the floor after two hours of tennis, I had a few moments of thinking "am I going to be able to get up???" Yeah, aging sucks (I'm 39).

Sept. 3 $0
