No Buy November 2009

Well, don't be too impressed. I have a $300 latte machine here at home that I use to make my own. I bought it pre-Dave Ramsey (4 years ago) but I am SO glad I have it! I use it daily.

oh, and just so you know, if you buy a pound of beans or grounds at Starbucks they give you a FREE tall drip coffee. :thumbsup2

Dawn

Way to go, Dawn! You are redeploying your resources.

I was especially impressed that you used the Starbucks card for beans for the month instead of one deliciious latte.:worship:

Did some grocery shopping yesterday and got gas. Usually Thursdays are a big spending day for me but I decided not to take the morning off of work like I usually do on Thurs mornings. Instead I'm earning more and I can't go shopping! Win Win!

Wow! I thought I'd do some calculating and see how I was going on my grocery budget. I took the $530 I alloted this month for groceries and divided it by the # of days this month (30) then multiplied that by the number of days that have already passed this month (11) and subracted that from the $530 :teacher:to see how much grocery money I should have left if I was keeping on pace and it came out to $336. I'm pretty impressed with myself!:rotfl:

Yeah I know. I'm not impressed with my ability to spend small amounts of money I'm impressed with my ability to keep pace with what I have budgeted. Maybe I took this wrong but you're not seeming very supportive. Am I not welcome here because I have a larger budget than some?:confused3

Ugh. Blew a zero day because I didn't have toothpaste or milkbones in the pantry. Silly, I know, but as I usually buy these on sale and stock up, when I go to grab them and don't have them it seems rude!:rotfl2: And, a pup without its reward seems very sad sitting in front of the fridge awaiting her biscuit.

I agree totally with the above, everyone is welcome in this thread - its not about how little or much you have in your budget/income but whether you can control your unneccessary spending, stay in budget and/or reduce debt.

Also keep in mind that incomes/expenses vary hugely depending on where you live in the US or overseas.

Both DH and I earn what are considered above average incomes here in NZ, however we have a mortgage and the sooner we can finish paying that, the sooner we can start saving for our retirements.

Went to the store today to buy supplies for a party I'm attending tomorrow - need to bring a few items with. Of course, I wanted to buy popcorn and ice cream and all these things NOT on my list, but thankfully willpower won out! :worship:
