No Buy May

1st - $0
2nd - $0
3rd - $0
4th - $0
5th - $0
6th - $0
7th - $6 for lunch
8th - $3.50 for CD rental at the library (my treat for Robert)

$9.50/$250

Today I took my dog to the vet to get his teeth cleaned and have him micro chipped - $330 later... that cost more than the darn dog! :rotfl: He'd better not have any more medical issues for the rest of his life at that rate! Luckily we have a category in the budget for "pets" which covers their vaccinations and food from the pet store ... so he'll just not eat for the next 6 months to recoup that from the budget.

I also had a flu vaccine which was $25 but work will reimburse me for that next pay.

From my personal budget, I got a CD for Robert from the library - its a 4 disk set so he should get $3.50 of value out of it. He's playing it now and its quite nice ... for opera. :rotfl2:

We are aiming for going away this weekend again since last weekend fell through. Work will be paying for dinner tomorrow night with pizzas so that will help the grocery budget.

6th - Sonic for drink after school for me and DD - 1.74

7th - grocery store - 11.16
car wash - 5.00

Today I have to pick up some stuff from the cleaners that I didnt budget for so I dont know what catagory that will be.

groceries - 301.47/400
eating out 157.01/200

Gifts are doing me in!

Mother's Day - Mom and MIL
Graduation - 2 college and 5 high school so far
Weddings - 5 (including a neice which calls for 8 hour car trip, 2 nights hotel
meals out, and a larger gift)
Showers - 4 of the 5 weddings have also had showers

May always seems like it should be easy because we don't need either heat or AC, but then the social obligations are killers.

Even if I get creative and do some $25 gifts, this list is overwhelming.

Plus, apparently when I feel overwhelmed, I spend on other stuff too. . . .

3 pairs of crocs yesterday from a post I saw on the budget board - as usual - didn't resist. I was planning on getting the family new crocs before our trip in August so I am already over it!

5/5 - 24.74 groceries
5/6 - 10.71 groceries again / 3.94 Hallmark cards
5/7 - 59.90 crocs / 40 Haircuts / 14.40 - moisturizers & budget organizer?

82.32/300 grocery
84.08/50 Miscellaneous
39.10/25 Eating Out
99.59/150 Household

Shockingly I feel in control this month!!

Do you have to take a gift to the weddings if you brought one to their shower? I always just do one or the other, and I know that is how it was at my wedding.

It depends where you live in the country, here in philly it is cutsomary to give a gift at the wedding and then a card (with alot of cash) at the wedding. I didn't get any wrapped gifts at my wedding, all cash and that is kind of the way it is here in the northeast... But I am stopping now because I don't want to start a pay your plate debate... :rolleyes1

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I need a "I laughed so hard I peed myself a little" emoticon!

:lmao: :goodvibes :rotfl: :rotfl2:
I will not post my spending today as i fell to the call of the Disney outlet online super sale.... :rolleyes1
I will go to bed and maybe in the morning i will wake up and find that I really
didn't spend 30.00 shopping.
Other than that I have been very good and had zero days this week except what was budgeted.

We are heading away overnight to a thermal resort 1.5hrs away. We will try to keep spending to a minimum. Work's social club will cover accommodation and dinner tonight. We'll probably have to cover lunch today, breakfast and possibly lunch tomorrow depending on when we leave. Also entry fee to the thermal pools today. I hope to keep it less than $50.

I also tried to buy an item on Ebay but was outbid but for the purposes of full disclosure have confessed here :lmao:

Yay Friday! Where were we? Thursday I bought a cookie and chocolate bar at work but used the change in my desk drawer (which counts as zero). Today would have been zero except we bought pizza for dinner; $40 because DH doesn't know how to say the words medium pizza (singular) and then hang up the phone. I guess there will be leftovers, if he doesn't continue to EAT IT ALL.

$195/ $600 Groceries / food
$105 / $100 Household
$42 / $200 Gas

I can't wait until next week when we get our refinancing straightened away. We'll consolidate our debt and then have a good solid "thing" to pay down, instead of a bunch of smaller items; which I think has made it really easy to tune out exactly how much we owe.

Ok, back from the hot pools - didn't do too much damage.

1st - $0
2nd - $0
3rd - $0
4th - $0
5th - $0
6th - $0
7th - $6 for lunch
8th - $3.50 for CD rental at the library
9th - $0
10th - $6 for lunch, ~$7 at the supermarket for drinks & snacks for the trip, $12 for thermal pool entry fee
11th - found money when crossing the road -$2 (we have coins for our $1 & $2)

$32.50/$250

Not sure how much of last nights dinner the social club will cover but it was less than $60 for the two of us. Breakfast this morning was around $40 but we'll take that out of the 'eating out' as we've only used $10 of it this month so far.

I said to my Mum yesterday that if she sees a clothes drying rack on special to let me know as I hate using the clothes dryer. She said I could have her spare one as she never uses it so that was around $15 saved.

Rumour has it that I have a fair amount of out of town work coming up so that can quickly increase my income as I try to save at least half my daily food allowance by eating breakfast in my room and getting takeaways for dinner. This extra will go directly towards the new carpet hopefully.

I just couldn't do it for no buy May
It's all my hubbys fault..
he went a bought a new car today
NOT in the May budget..
But our 22 YO car died and we couldn't get it running w/o spending and spending so he got a deal on a 2007 that has like 6000 miles on it for less than 200.000 a month with our down and the car rebate...AND they filled the tank with gas for us..and it gets good gas mileage...
So after 12 years I have a car payment...
I will pay extra on it and pay it off sooner
BUT since hubby did it i don't think it counts...:goodvibes
I have had zero days except for getting DD birthday and put away for Winter
stuff for 30.00 at the disney outlet shopping and i could have spent A LOT.
I will catch up monday on what i have spent as far as groceries..

Hubby needed gas today - 40.00
ate out Sonic - 6.53
dance recital flowers - 10.56 (I had $25 budgeted for this!)

Amounts left:

Eating out 150.48/200
Groceries/household 301.47/400
Gas 85/150
Entertainment 53.25/75
Mothers Day 39.51/50 (I dont know what DH got me but I hope it wasnt this much)
Dance recital 14.44/25 (this was today so I have 14 extra dollars!)

My goodness, we were down on page 4.

Here are my totals for the last week. I may start doing more updates as I think that may keep me from doing any "extra" spending.

5/5 - $0

5/6 - groceries $7.45; doctor $15, Rx $10 (unexpected for DD)

5/7 - shower gift $9.82; clothes $54.58 (not in the budget)

5/8 - lunch $4.46; gas $50.16; Walgreens $31.41 (comes out of grocery budget - huge score here - did the 9 items for $20 RR, turned around and used those, and got a ton of stuff, including two packs of Huggies.)

5/9 - Mother's Day gift $12.99, DD's Rx $0 (CVS said due to a partial refill or something about the way the doc wrote the Rx. Either way, )

5/10 - DD's composite framing $54.49 (came in under budget for this thanks to DM's discount at Hobby Lobby); groceries $46.05 (got a gas token from Bi-Lo - they base it on the pre-sale/coupon prices, so I was super excited about that); MIL's dinner $43.03 (included in Mother's Day budget - this was much cheaper than expected as I ordered a My Points GC for Red Lobster and used it to help offset the bill. MIL thought it would be "cheaper" for us to just take her out for dinner than to buy a gift. Not sure that theory holds well with me.)

5/11 - Mother's Day dinner $37.08 (came out of Mother's Day budget)

Totals for the month:

$27/$27 - YMCA swim class for DD

$150.55/$350 - Gas (just mine - DH gets weekly "allowance" for his lunches/gas)

$205.92/$350 - Groceries

$32.58/$50 - Eating out

$54.49/$76 - Framing of DD's 1st year composite - came in under budget for this one

$93.10/$130 - Mother's Day - came in under budget for this one

$30 - School pictures for DD - picked these up this morning, but I did not like them. I will do the remake session, so this may carry over to June, plus it is $20 less than I originally estimated.

$25 - Crop (scrapbooking)

$25 - Dad's birthday gift

$9.82/$10 - Work shower gift (I already have part of it) - came in under budget for this one

$10 - 2nd work shower gift (group diaper gift card)

$25 - Friend's DS's birthday

$85.58/$25 - Misc (includes unexpected doctor visit and Rx for DD and clothes)

Well, I obviously did some extra spending this week. Some I could not help, but some I could. However, I have come under budget in some areas that are now complete. All in all, I am not too disappointed, but then again, the month is not even half over yet. At least I got one $0 day.

5/1 $0
5/2 $0
5/3 $0
5/4 $0
5/5 $0
5/6 $0
5/7 $0
5/8 $0
5/9 $0
5/10 $0
5/11 $3.22 (I needed a new toothbrush, got that, kool aid singles, tea and nesquick syrup)

Months spending: $3.22/200

ok time to catch up and get back on track this month:
Groceries/Paper stuff/H&B supplies 400.00/374.00/ 70.00=304.00 balance
Car repairs 60.00/0=60.00 balance
School uniform Deposit 50.00/35= 15.00 balance
School Lunches 20.00/20.00= 0 balance
gas in cars 140.00/128.00/20.00=108.00 balance
bday & Moms day 30.00 total/27.00=3.00 balance

Disney trips:
11th: 60.00 (CS X2 for 3 )OOPS!:rolleyes1 Went over budget here: Ate at Germany and had ice cream so it was a 75.00 day not 60.00 day.
BUT we didn't need to put gas in the car since the dealership filled it up so that 16.00 gas for Disney trip was 0- used it for Ice cream ;)

so far except for the car my budget for May is going very good. I am really paying attention to everthing before i put it in my cart and there is no impulse buying - the kind where you buy it just because it is on sale. the disney thing was good as it got presents cheap and some stuff for cooler months at really good prices.
(Can you see I am trying to convince myself it was good to buy this stuff?)

DD has now decided NOT to do the BBB for her Bday as she can't go swimming that afternoon before PPP it may mess up her hair- so she says we can do up her hair and her makeup and she has a tiara daddy bought her from the mainstreet glass place already. - and last month i got her a pretty dress( Easter type) on clearance at target so she will be all Princess for the party- so i will use some of the prepaid card i had for BBB for sparkly stuff at walgreens of target or where ever I can find sparkly hair stuff.

bring on the rest of the month- i am ready for it!! :cheer2:

Ah, Mother's Day. We went over budget by $34.69, but what ya gonna do?:confused3 Sadly enough, this was almost the amount for dinner out, which was a lackluster affair. We weren't going out to eat, but as we woke up to the kitchen sink dripping like mad, we spent most of the day working on the plumbing. DH was mad, wanted to call a plumber, I refused. Honestly, unless we had snapped the pipe coming out of the wall, there is NOTHING under the kitchen sink I can't fix. (I still can't believe it, he builds million dollar oilfield equipment, but is intimidated by a P-trap & disposal?:confused3 ) Yes, it's not really how I wanted to spend most of Mother's Day, but it's better than calling a plumber! Spent $26.14 at Lowes for plumbing. We also spent $34 out of the groceries/household budget at Sam's & Target.

5/1-$0
5/2-$33 at Walmart, budgeted, $35 unplanned
5/3-$0
5/4-$0
5/5-$38 groceries at Sam's
5/6-$8 out of Mother's Day budget
5/7-$87 groceries, crap at grocery store and a giant cookie
5/8-$0
5/9-$18 out of Mother's Day budget for day out alone with DS
5/10-$0 I guess, don't know when DH & DS bought presents
5/11-$26.14 at Lowes for emergency plumbing repairs, $33 eating out overage on Mother's Day budget, $34 Sam's & Target

Overall, it hasn't been great this month. It seems like if I look away for a second, something creeps right back in. I hope to tighten it back up for the second half of the month. I have to do a grocery run today or tomorrow, and then I'm out of town on Wednesday & Thursday. So, there might not be many $0 days this week either.

:cheer2: Hey, it's almost the middle of the month everyone! Keep it up!:cheer2:
