I was doing amazing this month until I found out....the "darling" hubs has been giving his cousins free food(they are grocery shopping htree times a week in my cabinets), they took half a bottle of my dish detergent, they have been doing laundry here when I am at work and using our laundry soaps and softener( a half a box of my powder soap I just bought on Sunday is gone), and the kids told me last night they took half the bag of dog food because they didnt have any.
I explained to him that they are grownups(ages 26 and 28) and that its not our responsibility to provide for them. (Last week he broke down going to Jersey and his family was harassing us about going to get him or paying for a tow truck....it was the night of the blizzard and he was actually closer to them then us but they didnt want to go out in the snow...umm it was a three hour ride for us, and one and a 1/2 hour for them but they didnt want to go out in the snow? What about us??) He says that he feels badly for them as they are not working....they make absolutely no attempts to find jobs, and they have a kid. For the past year they spent 9 months here eating, showering, cooking ect because they had no utilities in the house. they never offered a dime to us...now they are back doing it again.

I know this is kinda completely off topic but I am about sick of having to budget two households when no one pays our bills for us. When we are down and out trying to make it all work and broke for a week between checks no one ever said to us hey do you need help? I know they are family...but shesh...they are also grownups with a kid. Why should my kids have to sacrafice their things so that they can have needs met without responsibility?????

Money wise....the last three days were big ones....gas bill, electric bill, and car insurance went out....another 750$ paid out.
Wish I could live irresponsibly..there is a pair of shoes I would LOVE to buy right now....LOL

ZooKeeper - You need to have a heart to heart with your DH.

I guess maybe to some I am coming off as heartless...but we had a special needs daughter who passed away two years ago. His family was not involved in any way with her: they never called asking how she was, they never asked if there was a way they could help us..nothing. My family took vacation weeks to help with my other kids so I could stay at the hosp when my little one was sick, even my exes parents took vacation time to help and they didnt have to help me. No one paid our bills in that time even though we lost my income so I could stay with her.....a 2500$ a month loss. I never asked for help financially and didnt expect it. They text message him that he is an ****** when he doesnt offer them help. But I am expected to just say sure come take everything we have because you are choosing not to work or act like grownups.

If someone has advice for me....please PM me...cause I am on my final rope here. I can use all the advice I can get....

I did not say you are heartless. The heart to heart talk with your DH is to put a stop to this. It is family money and stuff they are using/taking that needs to be agreed upon by both of you.

No no I know what you meant....I just dont want to come off as person who doesnt want to help family. HELP is one thing....taking advantage is another.

Again I know I went totally off topic but how can you keep on budget when you have fast fingers going through your house. (And DH who seems to have blind googles on??)

I don't see how you can stay on budget if others are using the five finger discount at your home.

I am considering getting those lock boxes that go over your thermostats at home like they have in dr offices.....does anyone have them in their home? I am assuming I can get them at Lowes or home depot??

On top of my other issues..LOL...my gas bill this month was 597$. This is by far the highest heat bill I have ever had. Granted we had some cold days but thats crazy. I am thinking the lock boxes might help keep the gas bill low.....
