Hi, I have belonged to the DIS for years, but this is my first time on this particular forum. I just found out they are closing the FoodTV message boards, and am very bummed about it. I hope someone here has the recipe I am looking for. It is a chocolate/oatmeal no-bake cookie. You melt the ingredients in a pan on the stovetop and drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper. The only ingredients, if I remember correctly, are:

cocoa powder, sugar, butter (the original recipe said margarine but now we know trans fats are deadly), quick cooking oatmeal, and peanut butter...

but I don't know the measurements for the ingredients. Does anyone recall this? I don't know how old the recipe is, but I learned it in the 70s.

Thanks :)

I have a good one for No Bake Cookies:

2 c. sugar
1/2 c milk
1/4 c shortening
3/4 c peanut butter
4 Tblsp Cocoa
1 tsp vanilla
3 c. oatmeal

Cook sugar, milk, shortening and cocoa. Boil 1 minute. Remove from heat and add vanilla and peanut butter. Add oatmeal. Mix well. Drop onto waxed paper cover cookie sheet. Refrigerate to cool.

Enjoy!!

My recipe is the same as Anne34's. Sometimes I omit the peanut butter to have a pure chocolate. I also don't refrigerate them but leave them out at room temperature.

They are great!! Have fun making them! :sunny:

Thank you!

I'm sure it is the recipe I was thinking of and I just didn't remember the milk and vanilla :)
