I recently found out we'll be able to take a long weekend in November, 10-12, and realized with our APs, going to WDW would be cheaper than going some other places we were considering. I hopped on the online booking and there is NOTHING anywhere, not at any resort or any size villa. Now I understand it's cutting it close, and it's the last weekend of F&WF, but a couple years ago I got a reservation Christmas week two days in advance....I refuse to believe there is nothing!

I am going crazy trying to book the 9th and 10th! We have reservations for the 7th & 8th at SSR, then nothing for Friday/Sat and then Sunday/Monday back to SSR.
I have been stalking the member services site about 5 times a day and I put separate waitlist requests for each night but nothing!

I was looking to even book a cash reservation but there is nothing available at SSR for the AP rate... really not looking forward to a split stay - here's hoping we both get lucky soon!

try calling them I called because I tried online and it told me one of my dates was not available anywhere and when I called she had to mess with it but got me a room with my points . Its worth a try

We have ressies at OKW for the 9 & 10th of nov for the 1/2 marathon and I had to wait list it back in may as we had just become dvc members and there was nothing for those dates. I was doing the happy dance when in came through a few weeks later. I think you will be lucky to get something as the race is completely sold out and it's the last weekend of F&W.

I'll be making someone very happy - I need to cancel my BLT 2 BR lake view for Nov 8-12. My DD needed surgery and she will not be able to run the marathon so she will not be coming, and my other DD was forced to cancel also. A 2 BR is too big for just us, hence the cancellation.

More owners, more competition, plus vacant rooms are given to Disney at 60 days before check in for cash reservations.

Sometimes MS will try to pull a room back for the Member sometimes they don't.

Nov. 12 is a holiday for some folks too (Celebration of Veterans Day Nov. 11) Makes for a long weekend this year

I think it's the end of Jersey week, too. We originally planned to go that week until we saw how many events were going on and switched to this week :beach: instead! Good luck!

Yeah, I called shortly after I posted this and she didn't find anything. Even with the half marathon, I am still shocked there is NOTHING, not even at OKW or SSR.

The AP discount would make a ressie at Pop pretty cheap though...this could be my first cash ressie since my parents bought into DVC in 1998! I had to look up all the cancellation policies and whatnot because I honestly had no idea :rotfl:

I am not surprised. I decided to go that same weekend last year and the marathon wasn't even then and I could get any DVC room or even a room at the Swan/Dolphin - I was looking at getting a room about a month earlier than you and people started posting in June that the rooms were not available that weekend. I would say plan on paying cash if you want something.

My mode when this happens is
A. Waitlist. SSR or AKV 1 bedrooms tend to clear first IMHO But as a professional late booker Holiday weekends are hard. Most folks found out long ago they had a "long weekend" :)
B. Check often. I check every day or two and adjust waitlist as things clear.
C. Book offsite. (SORRY but Disney hotel pricing is 100% above value so the AP Discount is just a joke, we still aren't near the price for quality LOL!) Plus they have much easier cancellations policies if you find a DVC resort at the last minute.

Monday November 12 is a Federal Holiday (Veteran's Day) so expect those long holiday weekends to be booked far in advance.

Timeshares are occupied at 90%+ so last minute travel is very iffy and probably almost never around holidays.

It seems to me that POP @ $75/night for 2-3 nights , where you won't have to rent a car and get the DME for free is not such a bad deal. Clearly, if you were looking for classier accomodations, offsite would be the answer. But for somewhere to lay your head for a couple of nights, I'd stick with POP.

Sorry, but I don't think it's a good deal. I can get an off site that is nicer for the same money. And Disney Dining has reached the "OMG are they crazy stage" too so I get a car to go off site for good affordable food.

If you aren't a car person then it's probably easier to stay on property. But if you are like me an get a car anyway it's harder and harder to justify Disney pricing!

Not to mention that the day before when you check the DVC online and discover "look a unit at SSR" you can just cancel the Marriott for no charge. Disney's in the "penalty" phase at that point!

IMO, this is good advice. You're doing this as a cheap getaway, so there isn't much reason to pay WDW cash prices, and your APs give you free parking. Right now, Expedia has rooms at the Dolphin (still a little pricey but in the Epcot Resort area) as well as 1BRs at Bonnet Creek ("inside the gates", right next to CBR and just south of Epcot). Several other very nice choices as well. Book one you can cancel on short notice, and keep your waitlist in place---and tell them you'll take a match inside 30 days. There could be a wave of cancelations then from people trying to avoid Holding Points.

This is basic Disney/DVC knowledge which you must store in your head for future reference. IT'S JERSEY WEEK! All New Jersey schools are closed for the NJEA convention November 8th & 9th. It is the second busiest/booked time in WDW outside of Easter.

Both vwl and vb both told me this week that they have been between 60-65% capacity for just about the entire season. I understand all the DVC rules, but if resorts are reverting to the cash side and are not being rented then why would ms not pull them back?
