No availability at all...How can this be?

I think they also have a Disney Visa free dining promo during part of December this year, so the regular resorts may be busier than normal.

The Visa cardholder e-mail we got said free dining Dec. 14-20. Despite having expired APs, airfare being double what it was last year, and being completely out of points until something like 2010, if I could have made the dates work I would have booked something! :rotfl2:

We went Dec. of '06 and '07 but I can't remember the exact dates. I think it was the first weekend of Dec. in '06 because it was parade weekend, so last year must have been Dec. 13-16, roughly. The Pop Warners were just beginning their tournament when we got there, and things really went downhill after we left.

I think more memberships are being sold and so there's less places to put us!
They have it figured out I'm sure so that they just keep selling them and it gets tighter and tighter each yr.......I remember cak 10 yrs ago when I would call a week before any time of yr and get a res. Would never buy one now if I had the choice with the way things have changed.

they can't legally sell more points than they have rooms. i doubt that is the issue.

more likely, december is becoming a more popular time to visit...leading to a higher percentage of DVC membership trying for the same time period. that means booking early and using your home resort advantage or else having to find another time to go.

There was another thread about this somewhere... basically saying people are probably using their developer points so that could contribute to this problem...

wow, i didn't hink of that. I just know it certainly isn't going the way it use to. and I don't think its just that people are changing their trip times because it's ALWAYS hard to find res. unless people are just using studios instead of 1 or 2 bdrms like maybe they use to.... oh well, guess we just have to deal with it!

yes, but developer pts are still backed by SSR points (or any other points from other DVC resorts that disney is holding unsold in inventory).

I believe studios and 2BR are the most requested. I remember our first trip home in 2001 that studio was very hard to get. DVC planned on folks wanting and needing 1BR and 2BR more. I think developer points are making some ressies harder to get. We got developer points last year and we made two extra trips at other time than is normal for us.

I'm not surprised that DVC resorts are booked. I know Dec. is a busy DVC time. I'm very surprised that all other resorts are booked. To not be able to book a room for a week at a value, moderate, or deluxe resort seems to suggest a booked to capacity and very busy park. That scares me for my trip in Dec.

It's yr round busy now though. The dayts are gone when you can call, book and hop on a plane to WDW within the same month. Dec is still not as bad as other months.

Ok now I am concerned. I was contemplating buying some points and then using them to get a room at this lodge during the first week of May. I thought I was doing this in plenty of time. From what I am reading, it would appear that there is little possibility of this occurring. I can get the points only to turn around and not find a room. Is this accurate??

Early December is an incredibly popular time for DVC'ers. The Christmas festivities, combined with low crowds, combined with "cheap" rooms (lower point costs) equals SUPER POPULAR. We called at exactly 11 months to book our rooms...as far as possible within the system. I saw waitlists sprining up by late January for some dates, and for MOST dates by the 7 months mark.

May should be a LOT less of a problem. :)

We booked at AKV on the date of our 11 month booking window for Dec. 13-19. Called back, prob in June, to try and switch to a lower point room and have not heard a thing since. And im hoping those Pop Warner people will be leaving fast. Dont want them ruining our trip!! Its our 15th wedding anniversary and I want it to be smooth and enjoyable.

We are going Nov 30 to Dec 12 taking our parents with us. Staying at SSR. Recently my mother in law was diagnosed with a devestating illness which this will probably be her last trip. Thank goodness we booked this trip when we did. Since her diagnosis, my sister in law and her family want to come the same time (don't want to miss this opportunity with mom/grandma), and they can't get anything in and around Disney. Apparently there in nothing off site available either! I can't understand and I am worried about how busy the parks will be. We were there the same two weeks last December and the place was practically deserted!:confused3 Most of all I would like to be able to bring the extra family with us!

I just checked our corporate AA Vacations site and I see there is a lot of availability offsite, even at Disney World Dolphin and Hilton Walt Disney World...

I doubt they are going to be able to get a Disney Resort, but there are definately some options.
