No AP rates available in AKL for 11/13-11/18

Just in case anyone's interested, there are no AP rates available for these dates at all (for any view room) and the CM I spoke to said the whole hotel is almost filled up. This is interesting since I was able to get AP rates for savannah view and concierge only last week and they had lots of availability. Go figure?

We will be at AKL Concierge on AP rate 11/15- 11/18...I added an extra room last night at AP rate for our last night only for my in-laws (now whether they will actually decide to keep it is anyones guess)...but I called last week and they would not make an AP rate reservation "No AP rates avail for a LONG time at AKL now, and nothing available in concierge at any rate"...on a whim I thought I'd try again yesterday and suprise...no problem AP rate avail for concierge room...I'm begining to think either 1/2 of the CM's don't know how to use the system or they just tell you nothing is available in hopes you'll go away and leave them alone

I'd say keep calling and see if you don't get what you want on another phone call!!

I have started playing a little game with myself...everytime I call I decide within the first 30 seconds whether the CM i'm talking to will be able to find what I want (most reservations seem to be attitude dependent)...I am right about 75% of the time...if they are unpleasent to begin with (before you ever tell them what you want) chances are great that they will not have what you are looking for...conversely if you get a pleasent, helpful CM they can almost always find the room and rate you are looking for (assuming it is actually available)

When I called for ressie at WL for 11/14-11/17 they told me not avl. when I droped the Friday 11/14 I was then able to book 11/15/-11/18 Maybe it's the Friday I called back several times still nothing for Friday...I called yesterday and made ressie for Allstar Sports just for Friday. No problem...I will keep trying to add the 14th at WL but I still will be able to arriive Friday to sleep only and be ready to go Saturday morning.

Well I called back and managed to get AP rate for concierge on Saturday 11/15, so now I'm only missing Friday night as concierge (I have it booked as Savannah view for that night) I find it amazing that the reservationists can't seem to figure out what they're doing. I can't believe they had so many cancellations in the 6 or so hours between my phone calls.

if they are unpleasent to begin with (before you ever tell them what you want) chances are great that they will not have what you are looking for...conversely if you get a pleasent, helpful CM they can almost always find the room and rate you are looking for (assuming it is actually available)

This has been my experience also. So my advice to anyone not getting what they want is to call back. You may still not get what you are looking for, but the odds are good that you will.

Well, to update all you nice people...(if you care that is ) I have called another 2 times and still no concierge available for Friday 11/14. One of the women I spoke to was nasty (I took your advice and hung up quickly-no use wasting money on long distance charges) and the other one was a sweetie. She looked for 15 minutes trying to find something, but there is no concierge even at rack rates (which I really do not want to pay anyhow).
I think it's because a Friday night stay lets you have the sunrise safari the next morning, so people just do concierge for that one day to qualify.
I don't really care so much about staying concierge that night, but the way it's set up now, we'll have to change rooms twice and that's a bummer. Stll have over two weeks to get that night so wish me luck. Otherwise will have to beg for an upgrade at check-in (either that or threaten them with sleeping on the concierge long floor )(that's a joke people):

Here's a thought...what if you requested a room on the 5th floor since some of them are concierge rooms and some are not??...explain your situation in a room request fax and ask for a room on the 5th floor for all nights and then explain you don't want to move rooms so many times, so you could have the same room just with concierge services some nights and without them on others...it might be worth a try. Plus they might be willing to let you upgrade at checkin that way. Don't know if it would work, but it might be worth a try.

Punkin, sending some more pixie dust your way too. I caught an AP rate for AKL Conc. for 11/15-20. Made the reservation 10/16 and was very surprised that it was available. Keep trying

Will look for you and SB in KY! It will be just my DD9 and I although we have friends from Denver who will be at the AKL when we get there and moving to Conc the 16th.

I'm surprised it's going to be so full! In our past November trips it was busy until about the 12th or 13th and then dead. And I heard it stayed dead till the week of Thanksgiving. Guess FTP and mass advertising had really busied it up.

Yeah...we went the same week last year (stayed at Poly Concierge) and while the hotels did not seem empty the parks sure did...I am still hopeful!!

I would actually rather stay on the 5th floor anyway (I heard it's a better view of the animals) Maybe that would work. BTW, I have been calling twice a day every day for that Friday-still no luck.

I also ran into a snag here with hubby. He got the time off but now his boss's boss wants him to do a presentation on 11/13 and he can't (read does not want to-good for career) get out of it. So...I have to change to a later flight and maybe tack on another day at the end of the trip. So more problems having to get yet another room for another day. I am getting overwhelmed. I will make some final decisions tonite when hubby gets home.
