No ADRs mid Dec

I booked a last min trip and am surprised how full everything is. I thought it was supposed to be pretty slow the week b4 Xmas, but I cant get lunch or dinner ressies at my fav restaurants. What gives?

Between the Disney free dining email pin codes and the Chase/Disney Visa free dining offer for the timeframe you are going, the decent ADRs will be few and far between. We will be there Dec. 13 - 22 and I made our ADRs 180 days out. I have called back to change a few things around and there is no flexibility at all. I'm leaving my touring plans just the way they are.

I will go that week too. When I made my reservations about 3 or 4 weeks ago, there were still a lot to choose from. But this week I wanted to make a change and there is litterally nothing left.

I did just score a dinner reservation at Kona Cafe and cancle a dinner at Whispering Canyon.

Sooo. Should I just keep calling, try to walk in, or what? Im so bummed! We wanted go to Liberty Tree Tavern and Coral Reef. Ive never not been able to get any time at all before.

You'll just have to keep calling, or just call and ask what they have open for your dates. I seriously doubt that either of those restaurants will be taking walk-ups during a free dining week.

We are going around that same time frame and I just tonight changed some things around and had no problems at all. I also booked a Candelight Processional Package a few weeks ago and had no trouble getting one of my choices.


Keep trying.

LTT will be very difficult since they are doing away with the character dinner starting in 2009 so I would be surprised if you were able to snag that one.

Coral Reef might be available if you keep calling every day.

It all depends on how many in your party. I just called Tuesday for Thanksgiving week, party of 2 and got everything I wanted. I have also had really good luck once we get to Disney.

I had been calling in the morning, had long wait times, and no tables. I called around 3pm CST and they had LOTS of openings. Not sure if it was just today or not, but I got exactly what I wanted. I guess timing helps. HOORAY!

I just booked yesterday, for December 17th - 22nd (may switch and stay one more night). We got the Visa free dining package, and I kept working the numbers, and it was a really good deal.

I got reservations just fine, of course some very popular places were booked up (but we've eaten many places already, so want to try some new ones).

We have reservations at:

Tokyo Dining (dinner)
Liberty Tree Tavern (lunch)
Wolfgang Puck Cafe (dinner - love this place!)
Yak and Yeti (very early dinner)
50's Prime Time Cafe (lunch)
Teppan Edo (lunch)
Chefs de France (dinner)
Rose & Crown (dinner)

So there were many choices, we are pretty flexible, I just figured which park we would be at or near, depending on the extra magic hours and which days we want to avoid MK!

I wouldn't give up at all - be flexible, and you may decide to try a new place! We've only eaten at Wolfgang Puck and 50's Prime Time, the others are new. Oh, I forgot - got Rose & Crown at 8:10PM on a Saturday night! Yeah - fireworks! Even if we're not hungry, we will order light and get coffee. I know we won't necessarily sit outside, but we've never eaten there before. We are very flexible - it sure beats cooking!!!

Keep calling is all I can say.

We'll be there dec 2nd-15th. That's during the time all of the resorts are sold out. And sure enough; multiple ADR's we wanted to add on a later date were unavailable.

By simply not gving up I was able to get just about everything by now. I actually got a couple of popular ADR's just yesterday! After weeks of being told nothing available.

So keep trying. People do cancel all of the time and you only need 1 person to cancel the right thing right before you decide to make the call.

You all have given me hope! I just booked a MVMCP trip on Sunday and when I called Monday am for ADRs everything we wanted was booked. I was expecting so be flexible, but dinner at 8:15pm just won't work for my little ones. I guess I'll keep trying until we go.

I was able to change some things around and snag Kona and GFC (this had lots of times) for breakfast and 'Ohana for dinner last week. I think I was just lucky though. We're going the 6-14th.

to just keep trying, which is what I am doing. We will be there the week before Christmas (yippeeeee!! so excited !!) and I was lucky enough to get all the restaurants we wanted, but then I did call over 2 months ago to get the ADRs. There are a few times I would like to change (not eating late at night at 'Ohana would be one of them) so I am just going to try and change them if I can. If I can't, it won't be the end of the world. As a famous rocker said, you can't always get what you want...

If you have not already, check out the want/trade/need thread on this board. I desperatley wanted a certain meal for 12/13 and thought the chances of it opening up were slim to none (the restaurant was booked for the day every time I called). I lucked out and found another Diser who was going to cancel exactly what I wanted, so instead she changed the name on it to mine. Sometimes things do work out.
