NO adr's at all for our trip!

We are going in late October and I didn't make any ADRs either. We are going to fly by the seat of our pants for the first time. I am generally a compulsive planner, and it stresses me out when the plans don't work out. This time I just want to be spontaneous. If we feel like having a sit-down meal I will ask what's available. If there isn't anything available we will eat CS. For sure we won't go hungry. I think it might be fun just to see where you end up. Of course, my head may explode if I can't refer to my binder, but my family wants me to relax so that's what I'm gonna try to do.:rotfl2:

Most folks on here are planners. Many plan stuff just for the sake of planning. "Planners", think that's the only way to do it and will call you loony if you don't.

I've been a couple times to WDW while "free" dining was in effect. We ate *almost* anywhere we wanted, anytime we wanted.

One evening I called to get an ADR for Narcoossees that night. They told me nothing was available the whole night. We went over there anyway at about 6:30 and were seated immediately. There were plenty of open tables. I think for the most part, they keep far more tables open for walk-ups than we think.

But really, someone who is on this board all day, posting 12 times a day, spending months planning every detail.....Including making plans for what they want to eat for dinner 26 weeks from now, just can't say out loud that's it's totally possible to go to WDW without ADR's and not starve.

Sure, but also, a lot of times the planners want to try to do everything they can to have a smooth trip. They've 'convinced' the signifcant other that everything will be great. The SO isnt so convinced, they keep coming up with this thing, or that thing that will be such a pain. So the planner just looks at the calendar and decides what days to do what. They make ADR's so that they know they'll have a place to eat. I dont think anyone here will say you cant get a TS somewhere. It's just that the LARGE majority of people that do walkups are doing them off park property. Now, I'm not saying that's a problem, but again, these people want to try to make it was painless as possible, so they will make ADR's for the park they are going to be at.

If the SO starts to relax, you can change the plan, and start just trying things and see what happens. But to flat out tell someone that they will be able to easily walk in and get a TS meal, IMO isnt doing them the best service. Again, I'm not saying it cant happen. And if you are on the DDP, I really cant believe your not going to try to get something close to wher eyou are going to be. I know a lot of people wouldnt want to have to plan to get to a resort to eat, or any other off park place.

I booked my meals a few months ago and I have repeatedly tried to change a few of them to earlier times (dinners) and have been told that the restaurants do not have any other availability at all. Perhaps those that have been able to walk in are as a result of people changing plans while at WDW and canceling their reservations.
