I got my 2008 "room"-only rate announcement letter last week. Called in yesterday to add my ~$5 deposit increase. I inquired about AAA discounts and was told there weren't any. :confused3 I was SO surprised -- I've always been able to get a discount before.
Do you imagine our little secret about the best place to stay on Disney property finally got out???? :rolleyes1 or what???

I called the day after the rates came out and couldn't get a AAA discount for early Feb. In all my years of having AAA and going to FW, I have only gotten a AAA discount once. Luckily that is not why I keep AAA or I would have cancelled a long time ago.

I had a AAA discount for May of this year and I just got one for October 2008. Maybe it depends on your dates.:confused3

We got the AAA discount for June 9-21? I thought that would have been a busier time than Feb or March.

I stayed for 3 years now in March and the reason you're not getting a discount is because of the spring break time. Schools are letting kids out different weeks and Disney is extending the times with them. My DD was out before the blackout dates on our seasonal passes this year so we did the parks but I noticed next year Disney moved the dates up so we won't be able to do it again. Believe me, WDW has bean counters and they do their homework.

We've been exactly the opposite! The only year I remember not getting a AAA rate was this past July's trip but it got canceled soon after I made it so I didn't try back for a lower rate. If I don't get AAA when I make the reservation I just try back every month or so until I get it.

(PS, usually countdown tickers are fun to watch as they race to the big day but yours is speeding by way to fast! I can't believe it's already down to 3 months until your husband leaves.)

I know, I am trying to avoid looking at his ticker. (OK, that does not sound good.) He is gone right now doing some predeployment stuff but will be back soon. It is kind of breaking me in for the long haul. The kids are being awesome. I could not do it w/o them.

As for AAA, I am cancelling my ressies for the site only that I booked through CRO. I have gotten a package through AAA, unfortunately, it is the same price as it would be through CRO. They should be checking daily on the codes to try to get me a better deal though. I am paying about $150 more getting the package rather than buying the tix and site seperate, but it is worth it for convenience. I don't have to order the tix from the Air Force base and then keep track of them before our trip. It is also easier when we are there because we don't have to have our KTTW card and tix separate. It will truly be a KTTW card. It will also have our names so no confusion. I just pray that AAA gets some sort of discount for me so that I at least break even in the end. Of course, the campsites don't get as big of a savings as the deluxe resorts do. Can't get a $400 discount for the week when I am only paying $400 to begin with. ;) So I don't expect to save more than $90 anyway.

As for the Diamond card, I think that is just a PR thing. You really can't use it anywhere. They need to expand where you can get the discount. Even at World of Disney, they block out half the merchandise and have a minimum purchase. And the times I had the diamond parking card, I was always told it was full. So I am not expecting any big deals from AAA this time, just looking for convenience.

I have only gotten a AAA discount a couple of times over the years. I think as FW becomes more popular, the number of sites alloted to discounts is declining. I really don't see any incentive for Disney to continue to offer a AAA discount, to be honest. They certainly could fill the sites without giving a 20% discount.

Especially for him ;) That will become your new kid friendly code word.

It's funny how that works, you have to be strong for the kids and that strength helps you get through things better. You hold each other up. Are you near family?

When I originally booked our trip, 8/5 - 8/12, in February of this year a AAA discount wasn't available. I made the reservation anyway and called back about every 4 days to inquire if a AAA discount was available that could be applied to my reservation. It took about 5 weeks but one became available and a credit was issued to my Visa, ~$76. Discount or not we were going and we were staying at Ft. Wilderness.

I called Saturday to pay my $5.63 added deposit for our trip in late March 2008. When I asked about AAA discounts, I was they were out and she would check for black out dates (which I figured since we will be there at Easter). It wasn't much but I did save $135.
I think you should give them a call back.
