After 8 years of trips to Florida - this will be our first year where we shall not be visiting the world.

DH has started his own business selling handmade Anime, Disney & Marvel trinkets on eBay & Etsy and we had to move from our long term home owned by the Church where we never had a rent increase in 15 years and still paid £550 (which for Sussex does not even get you a bedsit) We now have a beautiful home and my husband is so happy working for himself but with a rent increase of over £700pcm it does not take a genius to calculate that our previous holidays were a privilege due to our high disposable income - now in the real world we are having to be sensible. We decide not to go this year so hubby could get the business going (even though I am sneaking a trip to Australia to see my big brother - but that is just me) and have planned our next trip in 2017 to be our all time favourite time of year - September.

The kids will be DD19 & DS17 when we travel and wanted ideas of where to stay at Disney

We want to stay 10 days onsite and really want free dining (subject to it being launched again next month) having eaten off site the last couple of trips. It is not about what is best value it is about convenience, me not having to drive to eat, not losing time to go and eat. We want to have our 10 days at Disney as being just that. We will proceed to spend time offsite and universal and elsewhere and embrace off site dining then.

Problem we have is that we are a little past the age of the kids sharing a bed so need to look at rooms for 5 or with bunks & a double. We are currently considering the following:

  • Wilderness Lodge - a return visit but one of our favourites ever
  • 1 bed at OKW - do they still do the free dining & room discount?
  • Poly - our dream resort - never been though, but it is costly and I get concerned about how busy it gets
  • Boardwalk/Beach/Yacht - never stayed before, like the area & ability to walk

I suppose OKW & Wilderness are safe bets for us - but we do like trying somewhere different but when it comes to the Poly or Boardwalk/Beach/Yacht they are expensive and I suppose we don't want to feel disappointed.

We would really appreciate some input from other visitors.

Many thanks

Zoe

I would look into the idea of renting a 3 bed villa ... with own pool .. & hire a car ... pre paid in U.K.

This would far more freedom for All of you and for your son & daughter to see The Real Florida.

Try IPG Florida Vacation Homes. www.ipgflorida.com

Hi Zoe, we always stay at The Yacht Club for several reasons.
1. The pool
2. The pool
3. Did I mention the pool ??????? :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Seriously we stay there because of the location i.e so near to Epcot with kids more or less the same age as yours that tends to be the park we spend most time in. Also we tend to eat dinner there a lot and its so easy to walk back after the fireworks.

Although we have 2 boys they HATE sharing a bed so we always request a room with a day bed so 1 sleeps in the double bed and the other on the day bed. Both our boys are just under 6 foot and both find the day bed comfortable.

In general the rooms are a good size and we certainly manage quite comfortably.

Thanks Isabel - glad you can relate to the sleeping arrangements - DS15 is taller than me at 5'6 so good to know he will be comfortable on the day bed - as despite DD18 being a size 6 and 5ft she will absolutely pull rank and demand a double/queen to herself!

We want to stay on site - it means the kids can go and do there own thing - Villas are too limiting for us as I have to drive everywhere. We are also wanting the dining plan.

Out of interest, how do you find the pool at Yacht/Beach with the boys. We have always preferred the quieter pools - I know it is a big pool area and wondered how busy it got?

Ohhh you asked about the pool ! Yes we quite like it :rolleyes1:rolleyes1

It can get busy, especially in the afternoon when a lot of people come back from the parks for an afternoon chillout time and when the kids "party hour" is on it does get noisy but we've always been able to find a few loungers to park ourselves on and once you know where the kids party spot is you can easily avoid it. There are a few tucked away quiet corners if you want to be out of the way.

Our last trip in Oct 2014 the boys were 16 and 18 and they went off and did their own thing quite a few times, especially during extra magic late nights when MK was open till 2am !!!

Hopefully here are a couple of pictures showing inside our room and the bathroom area....... sorry I don't have one of the day bed and also a couple of the kiddie pool area and how "busy" is was.

Personally, I would pick the OKW one bedroom over having the 4 of you in one room. The single sleeper chair is long enough for me to lay in and I'm 5'9".

We didn't love SAB though - just too big and busy for us.

BWV was better - like it more than BCV. Pool was not as busy and resort setting was nice. We stayed in the villas in a one bedroom so not sure what the Inn rooms are like.

Nice to see you back on the forum. The 1 beds are usually in the deal, a one bed at OKW would give you the most spaceand the teens a bed each. We really liked OKW but only stayed in a studio.
